These people... you have to realize, every time you hear a story about someone not getting up for five years, or who has to be cut away from their furniture because they're growing into it, at some point in time you have to realize they got someone to start hauling away their shit for them, bring them food, bathe them on occasion, and start wiping their colossal ass when they can no longer reach. How do you broach that topic in discussion? "Hey Steve, can you start putting a pan under my ass and empty it out every day or so? That'd be real nice."

This is a condition where you always feel like you're on the brink of starvation and in desperate hunger pains, even when you've eaten so much that your stomach is full to bursting. You could, and some have, eaten so much that their stomach burst and they still felt hungry. Most people with the syndrome are obviously pretty fat, although it is possible to be skinny with it, but it means tolerating constant stomach cramps all the time.

I don't know, but the way I've seen the fat fucks in my family eat, I'm not surprised. They attack their meals man, they're maybe 10cm away from the plate when eating at the table, meanwhile I'm there bothering to move the fork the foot or so distance from the table to my mouth

I think it truly does start with being home bound. Sitting in a meeting supposedly burns 70 calories. Even just briskly walking up and down the stairs of an office building must do something. You never see someone pushing 400+ with a proper job.
Also, I suppose members of the family or the husband/wife are either guilted or manipulated into it. This person they love is completely helpless - if they don't help, what will happen to them?

My mother has developed a very severe heart condition that's left her unable to walk more then a hundred feet at a time, which has basically made her almost entirely homebound. She's not at 600 pound levels or anything but not being able to do anything at all means an inevitable gain in weight that really can't be helped. You could argue that she could diet but given a total lack of exercise at an old age she'd basically have to starve herself to lose anything, and besides even if she were skinny she'd still have trouble walking up slight inclines or two consecutive sidewalks in a row.
