The way things are trending now is that Johnny seems slated to be fully redeemed, with Isaac actually defecting over to the side Forge was fighting for, being fed up with the AC and all.
That'd be kind of interesting, seeing as Johnny is actually possessed by a spirit of that faction, and him working with Spender would some, pun intended, internal conflict within him.

But he still has his very loyal, very loving friends. He can't just simply stop being a part of what they had been building themselves up as "Mayview Middle School's Most Notorious".

Defection would be a possiblity considering how desperate Isaac is in the current situation he's having, especially where people at his age tend to be quite gullible in their actions.
But I don't think Isaac would really go all-final-villain-mode, though I might be affected by how Zack had canonized what's going to happen in that famous wallpaper, which implies that Isaac is going to be redeemed too - the point was kinda emphasized in every encounter with Doorman too, Isaac had given himself a bad reputation unintentionally and tries to be a better spectral as he can learning form his mistakes. Turning him straight into a villain would kinda negate all the struggles he did and they'll become so meaningless. [see pic related]
And should Isaac become the ultimate villain and he becomes defeated, would people still care for the sensitive 12-yo human side of him that's underneath the volatile spectral body that was?What if the story ends there - we'll never see Isaac trying to makes amends with the AC and we will never get to see Isaac getting a second hopeful chance at spectral life?I'm kinda worried at the potential Darkness Induced Audience Apathy here, to be honest with you.

Hmmm...
I read from some of the Disqus comments and the lurked tumblr posts that how they were really feeling what Isaac had some point in their lives - the need to be accepted by their friends and needing guidance for new situations that need to be understood, "am I doing this right?" "Please tell me if the thing I do here is wrong," or something like that...maybe.
I'm more worried that the turn of events that would be so depressing would give the message of "Fuck you, people who endure problems the same way as him will never get any mercy!", and thus the DIAA will manifest. That be so jarring from what the spirit [ahem] of the comic is from the start: fantastical thrilling, light-hearted(?) adventures and the anticipation of something awesome + meaningful. I dunno, maybe a bit of humanity would help with some levity.

There's no way to get around the spectral color thing with screentones. While using different tones can still theoretically distinguish each color, he'd have to literally have a reminder on every page of what color is associated with which tone. It just makes a lot more sense for things to be color so we can clearly see on our own and avoid unnecessary exposition.
But yeah if it wasn't for the spectral color I'm sure he could do it ok, but I doubt it'd have any effect on updates.

This is honestly the most infuriating aspect of Hitball.
Nearly everything stopped dead in its track for Hitball.
With the exception of a few cutaways and half begun conversations about actual plot, the whole of the last seven months has been hitball.
Honestly, there needs to be a B-Plot going alongside Hitball so we aren't just tediously bored.
Why not have Ed go to Spender. Ed is supposed to be getting more screentime this chapter, and he's done nothing for the past 6 months but sit on a bench.
There are so many plot threads dangling and we've ignored them all for nearly a year. All so Zack can do a parody no one wanted
