I agree with this anon. That being said X-23 isn't doing a bad job as Wolverine.
>>
>>77507079
Was he invincible in his first appearance?

If the answer is "no", Hulk should have killed him before future writers could come up healing factor nonsense

They tried to make him Xavier and he lost everything his character had
Days of future past did it better him knowing he's no Xavier
But I guess you can say what went wrong actually was something that went right
Xavier cured wolverine one of the only students he's ever really accomplished this with
and doing so made him normalish and ruined his character in some ways you can see that as a good thing

They realised that everyone liked him and so they tried to give us ever more of him, completely disregarding that the reason he worked in the first place is that there's a limited amount of him.

So they forced Wolverine to explore things past the angry, mysterious loner routine at which point they started developing his character and that led to mellowing him out. Eventually they even took the mysterious part away and wrote some bullshit nobody cared about because why would they.

Over time, he became the exact opposite of the character that everyone liked in the first place.
So these days Cyclops often gets pushed into the former role of Wolverine instead in the comics, the last cartoon we got and assumingly maybe also the next movie.

>>77507025
overpowered, that he can regenerate to the power of Lobo was shit. Lobo works cause his back story, doesn't work for Wolvie.

>Overexposed in the 90s and early 00s to the point of nausea.
>Hyped up to be a professional badass but constantly jobs to literally everyone because he's the MU's Worf.
>Hated for being more popular than other X-Men and, therefore, shat on by writers and fans alike.
>Badass levels have decayed as writers have forgotten what his character is meant to be about and made him into whatever they want.
>Joined too many teams for the character he's meant to be.
>>
>>77507292

This was a nice miniseries.

I hate how writers forget that Scott and Logan are actually fire-forged bros with a begrudging respect for one another.
>>
>>77507025
They gave his title to a woman.
>>
>>77507207
>Xavier cured wolverine one of the only students he's ever really accomplished this with
Eh, he did ok. He fixed Rogue eventually and that was supposed to be one of the hardest nuts to crack.
But then I just read X-Statix where he is a benevolent guy handing out super suits to anyone who asks and supporting whoever is having trouble in any way he can. So my perspective might be a little skewed with all his usual shady antics, locking whoever is too powerful in the nearest cupboard without telling anyone about it.
The X-Men movies really mellowed his character out for a while back in the days.
>>
>>77507055
This.
>>77507292
And then this characterization took over, and the Logan/Scott swap was complete.

And his death would have had more meaning if people took it more seriously/death hadn't already been ruined in comics. Hot on the heels of the most recent high profile "deaths" of Batman and Captain America, and with Secret Wars pending, no one believed we'd go a year without Wolverine and they were right.

Now, had Morrison killed him in NXM, or had Magneto actually killed him in Fatal Attractions, we might have fond memories of him. As it stands, I feel about Wolverine the way I felt about Batman in the mid 90's; bored.
>>
>>77507487
fuck off, I like women protagonists. X-23 has a story yet to be told, this is a good decision. Logan still has his old man series, so it's good.

>The X-Men movies really mellowed his character out for a while back in the days
Well that, and recent deconstructionist approaches to the character seem to take the psychic = Machiavellian path as opposed to psychic = empath.

During the Claremont era a magic source made his mutant healing factor go to an extreme and he regenerated his entire body from some blood.

Other writers thought this was cool and they just made his healing factor fucking bonkers forgetting he could only do this because of an near all powerful magical source
>>
>>77511886

this desu senpai. I read a comicvine versus thread where it was estimated that he would survive getting thrown into a star and crawl out in a few billion years after it burned out.

>>
>>77511991
I liked the Morrison tired to ground it, I mean when Morrison knows you have to take a step back from power usage you've fucked up. When Logan had to regenerate one of his arms it exhausted his healing factor and he was pretty much eating constantly

I fucking hate Schism. It should have been Storm or Hank.

Aaron ended that shit too when Logan and Scott share beer after wrecking SHIELD. Scott also did what Logan would have enjoyed as a way to remember him by when he died while everyone else did the exact opposite: he beat up a bunch of dudes in a bar fight.

Keeping up the schism when it's originator ended it is fucking retarded.
>>
>>77507190
So is Kitty the one chick in the Marvel universe he hasn't fucked?
>>
>>77512863
Ew, that's like his daughter. Of course not.
>>
>>77512818
You kind of point out the problem there though - Logan was the first person to get over the schism! Aaron fixed it, done. After that issue where they wreck SHIELD ideologies could still differ but the animosity was resolved.

But then Storm and Hank kept being written as foaming at the mouth retards over it.
>>
>>77513214
Kitty's not her daughter and she was a 23 year old not virgin adult woman at the time.

It's worse that he did it with Squirrel Girl who is barely an adult right now.
>>
>>77512863
Daughter-types are off limits for Logan, he'd never do that.

He's a power bottom, and the pervy subtext inevitably leaked out all over the place.

Imagine the kid who loved Wolverine. He never backs down and calls the bullies who persecute him "Bub", which adds a beat-down to his swirly. He struggles to his feet, battered and bruised, and in his mind's eye he sees himself as his hero, ready for another round of juvenile rough tradeā€¦

Kamala is awesome.
And FF and X-men are clearly Marvel lashing out at other studios.
The batman ultraman is silly. I'll give you that.

>>77507025
He went through sidekicks like an addict.
>>
>>77507025
He was edgy in the 90s when people lobed that shit so he became popular among casuals. Since he was popular he power creeped all the way from "quickly heals all non-mortal wounds" to "literally invincible." He then became boring because characters need weaknesses in order to have conflict.
>>
>>77517085
It's true, folks. Power creep killed Wolverine.

> Since he was popular he power creeped all the way from "quickly heals all non-mortal wounds" to "literally invincible."

Wasn't this suppose to be his shtick, though? A lot of the shit I read him in would involve getting his ass-kicked a lot of the time. Quite surprising to me actually, what with all that he had going for him.

His shit would always get pushed by the strangest people too. Somehow finding ways to KO him without worrying so much about the healing factor.
