Perez's Doctor Fate series only suffers from a painfully slow pace right now. Art is cute and Khalid is a likeable character at the very least.

Anyways, Doctor Fate is weird to give recommendations for because while he's remained a consistently popular character pretty much ever since his inception, he doesn't have a lot of strong, defining solo series.

William Messner-Loebs was pretty good
90s Fate was really fun
Hector Hall Dr. Fate in JSA was neat

I don't really know of any good Kent Nelson stories, maybe that team up with Green Lantern from the last brave and the bold book

Also this series is fucking great. It looks like ridiculous 90's edge at first (and it kind of is), but once you get past that it's actually written well and has good, well-rounded characters.

Avoid Giffen's "Book of Fate" continuation like the plague though.

Fate is a character I always really wanted someone like Morrison to get behind. He seems like an easy candidate for the bullshit meta stories he's always telling.

Current Dr. Fate was way too grounded for my tastes, I was really looking forward to it.
