And this was from an earlier page where Batman and Alfred talked about her school days.
It only says that she wrote an A+ thesis for the Gotham State University's psychology department.
So at least from Mad Love, she's a psych major who went through med school before getting to Arkham. Given that she asks to be called Ms. Harley in this one, doesn't sound like she got neither doctorate nor medical license. Just took enough med school courses for her psych degree.

Oh, and when everybody around her kept getting killed and she was visibly shown to being incapable of mentally processing it, so every dead body was always drawn in the animated series style as though all those dead people were just knocked unconcious as though they were a bunch of Looney Toones. That bit is legitemately disturbing.
But the best part is when she dies at the end of that stupid Metropolis arc and she is the only woman crazy enough to escape hell. And then she dicks around with the Martian Manhunter before Zatanna gives her spirit a body, just for kicks.
But the last arc, and ESPECIALLY that idiotic ending, was completely unnecessary. It even went completely aginst Harley's character. There's a reason she was put on a shelf for years after that.

While the first arc with the cartoony intersitonals was really good, I think >>77489109 is still the best. It's the most grounded and Batman like. It had a sort of weak framework, but her motivations made the whole thing worthwhile. Though I think if it weren't for the novelty of those visuals it'd be a lot weaker. For those who don't know what we're talking about, the first arc of the 2001 Harley Quinn ongoing cuts between the New Batman Adventures art style and a more realistic style. Any time a scene is shown from Harley's viewpoint, she sees it as a cartoon. This includes seeing murders as "just knocking them out."
For instance,a character holds Harley up at gunpoint at one point, and Harley fires off an explosive next to the character's face. They fall back with stars around their head, and Harley leaves. Later a few other characters come in to find the corpse of the character that held her up.
It's a pretty unique gimmick.
Anyway, the Metropolis arc is a lot of fun, I thought. All the stuff with her giving terrible relationship advice ("Want to keep tabs on your husband? Why not give him a recognizable scar?) was pretty funny, and her stalking and terrorizing of Jimmy over some minor sleight was very Joker-esque.
The Hell arc was... weird. It suddenly goes from cartoony capers to being Spawn, although it was cool that they got to revisit characters from earlier. The Martian Manhunter thing was total insanity, though.

The thing is, I don't like Batman. At all. I like the villains he fights all right, but his comics and by extension the bat family comics (with a number of exceptions I can count on one hand) just leave me cold.
This isn't to denigrate your taste, but for me, the less a comic is like a Batman comic (or for that matter; the less quantities a comic contains of Jimmy Olsen) the more I'll like it.
In fact, my biggest problem with the second creative team is that they largely made Harley BORING.

See, I like the Burtonesque "crime drama with costumes" elements of the Batman universe, so that arc really clicked with me. Harley is in an interesting position to tell stories with since she's not really a major player like Two-Face or Joker so people don't fall in line with her immediately, but she's a big enough force to have some weight to throw around. She's sort of a street level villain.
Plus any time she got to show that she was an actual Psychologist was excellent. That's one thing people tend to leave out when writing her- she's wacky and childlike, but she's also really smart. At the end of the day she's just a broke-brained woman who gave up her life and decided to become a lackey.
I can see how that stuff was a huge change from everything before it, though. There's a big leap from escaping hell and becoming a ghost, then possessing a legion of screaming girls to fight an alien to a reserved crime drama.
Still, that's what I like about the series.
