Ever After High is a simple story of fate vs destiny, where the characters are raised to follow the footsteps of their ancestors.
The main character doesn't to end up like her bitch of a mother; another wants to have the safty net of destiny because she is scared of change.
The sleeping beauty of this story doesn't want to sleep for 100 years knowing that her friends will die, so she ends up throwing way destiney whcih could end up killing every one.
My favorite is the Daughter of the red riding hood and bad wolf. distant, she is scared to reveal her identity thinking others would see herself as a monster, so she wears a metaphorical mask to protect herself.

I personally believe it gives you enough of an "Oomph" that you might check out the books.
The books are pretty good, the only one that is lacking is Kiss and Spell, the story that takes place in present day is pretty poor, but the story about her child hood as the daughter of the Child eating witch is pretty good.

I could dig it. Blondie does have sort of a "notice me, senpai" vibe towards Apple even though they're the same age and have apparently been best friends since they were nursery rhymes. They've already established that Blondie strives to impress Apple while Apple likes her just the way she is in a platonic context, so it'd be pretty easy to carry that over into a ship.

MH has cute monster girls and is quite fun if you can stand the puns, EAH has much better continuity and stories and shit. But there's no denying that most of both show's popularity comes from the ever expanding range of waifu flavors. What works to keep little girls buying toys keeps waifufags watching as well.

It really reminds me of a good old fashioned 80's cartoon. Where it is meant to sell toys and so the stories can be out there but with a theme. Like new characters or new events/cloth lines where it keeps the story going vs the current cartoons that can go stale with the authors having told their story. And then having to make up shit to extent the story like AT, SB or other such toons. Being a toy line actually gives the plot somewhere to always go. You would think that would be a draw back but it can actually give writers alot of freedom in their stories. Which is what kind of draws me to EAH/MH.

I gave it a look just because I thought the character design looked nice when someone posted reaction images from it elsewhere. Stayed because EAH, despite being a toy commercial, has surprisingly good, charming characterization for most of its cast and a mix of a slice of life comedy filled with bad puns and an interesting story, which are both things I like.
