tried this yesterday, didn't really catch on
if you had just one comic(series, single book, short story, anthology mag, doesn't matter as long as it's part of a single title) you could show to someone curious but ignorant about comics which in your opinion makes the most out of the medium, just one comic that you think of first when you think of genuinely exemplary comics, what would that comic be?
Good luck even getting an issue of Raw for yourself.
nothing? shit, dudes
Is this person literate in the English language?
I recommend the wordless comics of Jim Woodring's "Frank" just in case they aren't.

the person is entirely figurative, i'd just like to feel the pulse of the board when it comes to this topic
thanks though!
bump
If it was somebody I knew I'd try and tailor it to something I figure they might like.
Like a mate of mine is big into fantasy, and has a great (and somewhat crude) sense of humour, so I lent him Orc Stain as his first comic.
But an entirely hypothetical blank slate person? Hmm, I might take the easy route and go with one of the recent Best American Comics collections

>Best American Comics
it's appreciated

I mostly agree with this guy. Sort of depends on what they like, or what they think they want out of the medium.
I'd probably point my friends to American Splendor if they ever asked for a recommendation.
one last bump
Boxers|Saints but I'm afraid they will not enjoy any other comic because of how good it is.
I dunno maybe Cerebus?
Love and Rockets is a definite rec.

My Dad has this issue at my Grandma's house.
Maybe some of moebius's stuff.

or this, or Druillet
or Michael Deforge, Brandon Graham, or Paul Pope
or some good ol' Hellboy
>>77487965
good taste
The Deforge stuff would be really good to show someone who thinks all comics are just about spandex hero's

So instead they'll learn that all comics are about Canada.
