I would argue that it's not really comparable to Sandman in that Lucifer is more of a traditional comic "fantasy" story than something trying to push the boundaries of storytelling through the comic medium. But everything looks like that when you compare it to Sandman, so it's not really fair.
The comic itself is HELLA FUN and Lucifer himself has great characterization. I feel like if you enjoy capeshit epics, you'll enjoy Lucifer.

Agreed. I liked Lucifer's character. He was a charming asshole. Mazikeen kicked ass. And I liked that it was focused on one overarching plot more Sandman was.
