Basically the two last seasons of South Park have been experimenting with continuity, but the last one has an actual overarching plot where PC Principal influences the town to become more political correct. One of the running gags is that every episode he'd aggresively tell Leslie, a random South Park student, to shut up, even when she wasn't saying anything.
The town has changed, everything is PC now, and the recent episode ended with Barbrady getting a special secret job to take down the town's actual downfall: Leslie. Not only they turned a random background character into the key element, but they also implied that PC Principal was Leslie's dad all along.

There is still a lot of good shit in it.
Here's something you should know about this season of South Park. Basically, for the first time ever, every episode besides a select few have been banked. With the exception of Tweek x Craig (hence why there was a plot about Mackey that got cut like halfway through and his role replaced with Randy), basically every episode was pre-planned, plot outlines were written months before production even began. 1% and The Cissy are examples of episodes that were banked beforehand, meaning they were already partially made before the season began airing. Every episode serves a specific purpose and it all builds up. Hell, they even introduced David and continued to expand his presence, just to have him be the straw that broke the camel's back when Barbrady shot him accidentally. This season should play out like a movie once it's all done, it wasn't clear from the beginning and it won't be fully visible until it's over. There was a hint you were given last week. Not sure if you noticed, but there was no PC Carnival like you were promised. That's going to take place next episode. Things may or may not take a dark shift during said carnival. No, the plan is not related to crab people. Though, if you've analyzed far more than you should, analyzed the surroundings, you might have some idea of what's going on. Unlike most two-parters this wasn't just made up as it went along, everything that was there was there for a reason.
Also, here's a hint about what the actual plan is. Note the hair color difference, note who could be taking the picture, what happened in episodes 2 and 4 that still need to be resolved, what unusual background characters have appeared since episode 2, and which reoccurring character has, since the beginning, felt out of place? Here's another clue, what is PC Principal's real name? Look for that in Episode 8. It's hidden...too well.
