Was Eddsworld ever really that popular? I was always under the impression that it was just kind of a thing, but never had any major fans.

The slow pace worked much better. Many exchanges felt like actual conversations and not "JOKE JOKE JOKE WITTY COMEBACK JOKE JOKE" that Post-Edd can suffer from.
Got annoyed when they almost accommodated ASDF into the show into the Zombie episode. The two series were completely different.
