Think about it this way:

In real life, everyone theoretically has the potential to become a buddhist monk seeking enlightenment. But few people become monks, and fewer still reach enlightenment. If you never become a monk you could say you were not destined to. If you do become a monk you could say that you were always meant to, it was always inside of you just waiting to come out.

So now think of these monks as characters in a story that's heavy on themes about destiny. For the sake of this story about destiny, what is the effective difference between every character being able to become a monk but not doing so for one reason or another, versus only certain characters having "monk-sensitivity" because they are destined to do so?

Now apply it to Star Wars. In this fairy tale about destiny, what is the effective difference between Han Solo being able to use the Force, but never doing so for one reason or another, and Han Solo straight up not being innately Force-sensitive to the point where he can tap into its power in a meaningful way?

PT > OT

why? the effects in the OT are garbage! the PT has real swordfighting and yoda isnt some stupid ass puppet yo, hes a fucking high tech 3d model.

the effects of the OT are ltierally toys man. theres so much cool action and people being killed in the PT man, also jango. nobody watches these films for anything but the action anyway

So uh, watching the latest episode, and I'm wondering something.

Is no one allowed to call out Hera for being retarded? She's bitching about needing to be there for the fleet, but her only plan is to keep throwing ships at the blockade even though she knows they're going to lose one of the only two(!) runners they have left. And for some reason Commander Asian agrees with her. Why? Is Hara just stuck being a boring-ass perfect character forever?

There weren't any other options THEN SUDDENLY SUPER MAGIC PROTOTYPE FIGHTER THAT SOLVES EVERYTHING

Their only choice was to sacrifice themselves to get those people food originally. That's actually how real blockades were tackled, you either fought a small war to destroy the blockade (as shown) you sneak through (not possible) or you ran the blockade as shown.

Or they could tell Hera to fuck off because obviously the losses are too high. What's more important, the existence of that rebel cell that can keep fighting the Empire or one starving populace that is apparently so small that they can feed all on their own with a single supply drop? Just how small is this settlement they're so gung-ho about helping? At the very least the commander should have questioned whether it was worth it. You guys want to call me dumb? If you're saying this plan made any sense in to any actual tactician, you're both retarded.

>>77425623 Prequels were different types of movies to the OT. GL once said "Never make the same film twice" Hence why the prequels aren't the copy paste OT fanboys wanted. The dialogue is just as cardboard as the OT sometimes awkward but it matters little because it's supposed to feel like a golden age pulp sci fi fairytale with cheesy dialogue and unrealistic romance. People just don't get this. It's great escapism and I love the way george tried to capture classic cinema, especially in episode two with a shitload of movie references a film buff like me loves. The prequels are movies movies. And so are the originals. I love them both for that warts and all. I can still understand not everyone wants "their star wars" to be like them but it's a big universe and respect has to be made for the things they added to the lore and feel of the saga at the very least.

They fight the Empire to keep populaces from starving and if they did quit helping those in need and did nothing to help people, the public would have seen the rebels as terrorists that only want to fight the Empire. The Rebels need public support and them not helping people would paint them as nothing more than agitators.

But yes, Hera did need some calling out on her plans, they weren't working.

Dagoyan Masters
Nightsisters(at least partially used The Force)

There is also the Force Priestesses and the Force Wielders from Mortis.

You know what the big problem with this argument is? It is completely backwards.

That 1 B-Wing in one shot was able to do more damage then a squadron of B-Wings firing Proton Torpedos.

So for the cost of 1 super B-Wing, you have 11 less pilots (saving manpower and money to pay them), maintenance supplies, manpower for maintenance, fuel, ammo for Proton Torpedoes (and that there alone is huge).

It cant be THAT expensive because this guy on a backward planet developed it so its not like a huge corporation is needed for this thing and you obviously dont need a big power source sense you can fit it in a single B-Wing.

Fuck the B-Wing, this laser is FARRR more important and should be mass produced on corvettes.

>>77426622
Who gives a shit if it can hyperdrive. TIEs cant either, attach them to the Corvettes like you see the A-Wings do or make pocket carriers.
The episode was idiotic because that 1 laser is literally more capable then an entire wing of B-Wings, definitely cheaper, and far easier to use.

What annoyed me about the latest episode of Rebels was how we suddenly got all this character background out of the blue. There was zero indication in past episodes that Hera had had some dream of flying ever since she was a child, but then suddenly exposition. That sort of thing needs to be hinted at and built up over the course of the show. You can still have your background dumping speech, but you have to at least imply earlier that such a speech is possible.

Kallus realising how fucked they were when the B wing flew straight at them though was pretty good. Also Hera's lekku physics.

What? You know the Galactic Civil War had battles before and after the Battle of Endor?

Battles that had the super B-Wing (or more precisiely the super laser, who gives a shit about the B-Wing when you have that laser) could have allowed the Rebel Alliance to give the Empire a solid ass beating in any battle.

What do you mean by "more Rebellion"? We are talking about the soon to be and later the Rebel Alliance

No the war was not over in Return of the Jedi, the war continued a few months later. Even so how does that change the fact that the Rebellion could have used this laser before and during Endor.

And as stated, the war did not end at Endor, it continued for months afterwards (in new canon at least) which doesnt change the fact it could have been useful during and before Endor

>>77427583
A fine idea, anything more then 2 shots could be crippling to a dangerous degree for the pilot and machine. The problem is that it is not listed so the only down side the show presents is "It cant hyperdrive" which the show immedietly shows that is a "well who gives a shit" problem.

To make any sense of why we never see the laser again we need to make up things that are not mention at all to explain it.
>>
>>77427660
If I was Quarrie I would be even more put off by the fact that this woman made up a war backstory/speech right on the spot just to try to persuade me to get my ship.

It's super cheesy. But somehow, it worked when it shouldn't have. Kind of like Hera's lekku physics.
>>
>>77427660
Eh, they've been doing that with everyone so far. It's the price to pay for contained episodes instead of the multi-episode arcs from TCW. Remember how natural Kanan's grievances with clones came across in the Seelos two-parter because they had more time to go over it. Zeb being one of the last of his kind and Sabine's past on Mandalore got similarly brief mentions as Hera's last episode exposition as a small shot at developing them more. I really wish the episodes were longer. Remember Justice League having hour-long episodes? Even when they were bad episodes, I loved having so much time to experience them.

Why do people not know hoe Hyperspace works? The blockade was on that side of the planet because it was either the only or most likely place the rebels would appear out of Hyperspace. Hyperspace travel requires you use predictable lanes of travel so you don't die slamming into an asteroid or blow up in a star. And the blockade can intercept any attempts to go around them.
>>
>>77428252
Not that guy, but the rules of Hyperspace have never been explained in detail to us in both TCW or Rebels.
>>
>>77428252
Why not make a temporary hyperspace tunnel that they can collapse? You lack imagination, anon.
>>
>>77428252
I think the big problem is that we only see 5 ships. Doesnt really give the feeling of a blockade when we compare it to say TPM where the planet is surrounded by battleships.

Maybe if there was 5 ships at each possible point of entry but we dont really see that (because it aint practical)

Maybe they could have said "can we go around?" "No, this is the only hyperspace lane we can reach from our sector

>>77428288

>>77428305
Yeah, they could have said it. But remember, it's 5 ships and a bunch of TIEs against 2-3 ships and some A-wings. Kallus was lucky the Rebels only had such a small fleet available at the time.
>>
>>77428270
It was literally explained in ANH, by Han
>>
>>77428288
If the Rebels had that capability, the war would've been over before we reached ANH. Hyperspace doesn't run on Mass Relays, anon. You can't just will new lanes into existence. You can discover hidden hyperspace routes, like Han did with the Kessel Run, but that can take a while.
>>
>>77428358
Exactly what my issue with it being a "blockade"

I wish they simply called it something else. Simply an Imperial Task Force keeping order (or punishment)
>>
>>77428399
Speaking of which, I wonder if the Nexus Route will ever come up again
>>
>>77428288
It's not the Warp, dummy. Hyperspace is traveling really really fast along predictable, safe parts of space, not going through another dimension. You need to carefully calculate routes that don't slam into debris, asteroids, stars, planets, and other ships. It's the same space you started in, you're just running through it really quickly.
>>
>>77428358
Even so, I could see that blockade working if the Arquitens was fast enough. SW ships are decent sublight speeds, IIRC in ANH the X-Wings travel the distance from Yavin-4 to the Death Star in under fifteen minutes (like, under five minutes probably). The A-wing is much faster, and the Blockade Runner likely has some serious power for a ship it's size (is that a capital ship).

On the Imperial Side, I think we could assume that while Tie Intercepters weren't a thing yet, Tie Fighters could either launch from the planet's surface or disembark from other ships in time to meet the Blockade Runner (assuming Ties and X-Wings have equivalent speeds, which I'm primarily basing on the OT).

The Arquitens, which I don't know whether or not that model is particularly fast, had a great spread of fire and decent positioning. With SW speed, I think it's possible for five mid-size cruisers to form an effective orbital blockade to prevent any other mid-size cruiser from sneaking through. Feel free to prove me wrong, I think my argument's all sorts of shakey.

IIRC the Trade Federation in TCW achieved similarly understaffed blockades with 3-5 capital ships, but those CIS suckers were huge and often had carriers with thousands of droid fighters in them. You could easily cover all access points from orbit with those.
>>
>>77428371
Key word in detail. Han never said anything about the possibility of coming out of Hyperspace early and and flying around a planet to evade enemy ships.
>>
>>77428421
It still fits the definition of a blockade. Any other official name would just lead to the Rebels calling it a blockade because it's that kind of obstacle.
>>
>>77428427
Come to think of it, they never resolved that, did they? Tarkin knew half of it and Ahsoka knew the other half, and both had instructions to only give it to Palpatine/Jedi Council. Yoda said he would talk to Palpatine about it, but we never saw what happened with that.
>>
>>77428460
Knowing Yoda and Palpatine, I figure they probably agreed to keep the information separate for the sake of security, so neither of them would have the full information.

Of course Palpatine put "get the other half of the coordinates from Anakin's shitty little brat" on his to-do list, but given how long it is it probably would've been a while before he got around to it.
>>
>>77428448
I think an implied explanation was that it would be too hard for the ship's computer to figure out exactly when to jump, so you'd mostly have to pull out a jump blind. This is mostly guesswork though, because I think somebody does this in either Rebels and TCW and they come out mostly fine (if extremely disoriented).

On the flip side, we saw what happens when you hyperspace jump at random in TCW and you end up in some ass end of the galaxy.

>>77428449
I don't get why people would object to the use of the term "blockade". It's a blockade, just a small one with less ships.
>>
>>77428449

It can be inferred that Palpatine likely got both halves in the end and gave them to the Separatists, for the impending Battle of Coruscant. It's the only way to really explain the overly massive Separatist invasion fleet pockmarking the skies as they did, as well as the swiftness in which they kidnapped Palpatine.

The Jedi, knowing that the knowledge of the Nexus Route was supposed to be safely secure with Palpatine, likely launched their investigation of Palpatine's dealings in response, concluding that the Separatists wouldn't have been as successful as they were without that knowledge. If there were a chance that knowledge were comrpomised, the leak would have come from Palpatine's office.

Course, this wasn't explained in the movie, but I feel Obi-Wan and Anakin's briefing regarding the importance of the Nexus Route does a good enough job of putting things together.
>>
>>77428571
It would have made a cool TCW episode, where Yoda or somebody begins having suspicions and investigates. Or if somebody actually figures it out and gets Sheev'd before they can warn anybody else.
>>
Finn and Rey are Force-sensitives. Enough, people.
>>
>>77428599
That was actually the entire plot of Labyrinth of Evil. A damn good book.

The Republic gets proof that Darth Sidious is real and they begin a campaign to track him down. Eventually Palpatine is informed of this and realizes the Jedi are on to him so he plans the Battle of Coruscant as a disguse to make the Jedi believe that the kidnapping of Palpatine was actually cover to rescue Sideous.

The Intelligence officer and Clone Commando unit searching for intel make it all way into the Senate Tower (as in they confirm the Sith Lord is indeed a Senator) before they are killed by either Grevious or Sheev, not clear on who.

The book literally ends with Anakin and Obi-wan ordering their fleet to return to Coruscant as the battle is already underway.

Wouldn't have minded an aftermath of the battle episode - since they were apparently going to go through the events of RotS from multiple perspectives - showing the results of the battle, and the Jedi's growing concern over Palpatine's role in things. We'd see that Council meeting where they vet Anakin take on the responsibility of investigating Palpatine. This would amusingly be interspersed with the Palpatine's almost simultaneously vetting Anakin as his representative on the Council.
>>
>the phantom now has a hyperdrive

Convenient.
>>
>>77428690
The idea would be that Palpatine is onto the Council's growing suspicions, as it'd be natural knowing the battle would have been impossible otherwise. So, as a means of gaining insight into the Council's state of mind, and throwing a wrench in whatever investigation they might have cooked up, he vets Anakin, his closest friend and confidant, as his personal representative on the Jedi Council.

Currently watching Season 2 Episode 6, the droid factory on Geonosis.

Some of that stuff is pretty heavy for a supposed kids-show. Burning Geonosians on screen with flamethrowers? Daymn, boys.

Except for the very very shitty and truly terrible, not even remotely fitting lemur-two-parter I really do enjoy the whole series and from what you guys say, it's only getting better.

The occasional extreme stupidity is okay, even if some plots could be completely avoided with a single little force push or the like. But the Force isn't really that consistent in this series, so eh, whatever.

The Gozilla/King-Kong Zillo-Beast-episodes were hilarious and actually well done with some nice Sheev-parts.

Because we know what B-Wings are armed with

their lasers are the going to do less damage then an X-Wing (3vs4 lasers), their Ion-Canon dont do damage, and they are armed with the same torpedoes X-Wings and Y-Wings are armed with.

Proton Torpedos arnt god killers. They always needed concentrated fire and a squadrons worth of fighters just to break the shields of an ISD. Forget about killing one. The thing about B-Wings is they could hold more Torpedoes as opposed to Y-Wings who could hold more to X-Wings.

So yes we saw this 1 B-Wing do more damage in 1 shot then what a squadron of starfighters should be able to do using Proton Torpedoes. (Lets not forget Proton Torpedoes cost money and have a limited supply of them)

>Battles that had the super B-Wing (or more precisiely the super laser, who gives a shit about the B-Wing when you have that laser) could have allowed the Rebel Alliance to give the Empire a solid ass beating in any battle.

Not really. That the super B-Wing managed to knock out an equivalent of a Coast Guard patrol boat in a single shot does not mean it would be more effective against ships meant to participate in actual frontline combat, like Star Destroyers, never mind Star Battleships. The role of fighters as far as could be deduced from films always had been mere support - swarm around the enemy fleet in hopes to exploit any small shield breach that bombardment from your own capital ship might create, like how happened with the Executor. Or fly special missions, as with Death Stars runs or boarding the Invisible Hand. In the only case when a fighter squadron is actually tasked with sinking a conventional capital ship (in TPM) they clearly were going to fail miserably if not for Anie's mad Force luck. In such cases, reliability of your weapons is more important than briefly giving greater sheer output that will bounce off shields of any significant target in any case.

Please, anon, I remember when everyone was complaining about battle droids and clones not being able to hit shit.
>>
>>77429431
You never watched the original films? The storm troopers didn't hit shit then either.

>VTOL spaceships

REPULSORLIFTS

Seriously, magical kinetic vector generators solve everything
>>
>>77429440
Clones and droids killed eachother a lot, but just the visual aspect of the battle aside, the whole crew never feels like it's in any danger of ever losing. Clone Wars had plenty of back and forths between the sides with lots of "victories at a high price".
>>
>>77429453
Lots of the crew on the death star assault got butchered by Tie fighters, and I don't even mean Vader, I mean normal ties. And at least most of the time the crew has the decency to take cover and pretend like they're under fire. In Rebels, no one gives a flying fuck how much fire is happening. Kanan in the first episode steps out into live fire for like 10 seconds before pulling his light saber, Sabine spends the entire first part of the finale running around a place with like 20 storm troopers firing at her and still finds time to stop and taunt them.

>>77429453
He'll just go for the usual "b-but Vader told them to miss!" excuse which not only doesn't justify their poor aim everywhere else, but also doesn't really hold up when you realize that the minimal response to their escape was what let them get away, not every last trooper and pilot intentionally failing.

>Except for the very very shitty and truly terrible, not even remotely fitting lemur-two-parter

It seems to me that most of the complaints about that two-parter are based on either confusing presenting an idea with supporting it.

NOTHING IS BEYOND THE FORCE! I find your lack of faith disturbing.

A patrol boat? At a minimum that thing was a destroyer. It was big enough to carry 4 TIE Fighters. This means it should have decent enough shielding that you would need anyone from 8-12 fighters to destroy it in one pass. (An ISD need 12 just to penetrate the shields, forget about serious damage)

Also The roll of starfighters is similar to WW2 Pacific theater fighting. A Single fighter is not a threat but a squadron of fighters armed with Torpedoes (see why they are called that?) is suppose to be a threat to the enemy ship. This is from the words of George Lucas, Star Wars was always WW2 in space. Just watch the way X-Wing fly or how similar the Falcon vs TIE fight in ANH is to a B-17 defending itself. Also they even say in the show that the entire point of the B-Wing is to destroy capital ships.

So we have the super laser that can penetrate capital ships (likely a frigate at minimum) shields and destroy said ship. Fire this laser a few times and you could kill an ISD in a few shots.

Meanwhile you need a wing of starfigthers to do similar damage? You are actually supporting my point, that the cost effectiveness of 1 super laser (forget the B-Wing) is so radically superior to Proton Torpedoes that it is straight up horrifying. The show radically fucked up and the only way to fix it is for fans to say stuff like "well maybe the super lasers has a 25% to blow up in the pilots face" otherwise that laser should be thrown on every ship possible.

It's just poorly presented. Tee Watt Kaa is an idiot.
>>
>>77429484
It's not just the idea behind the episode. I understand that. It's the whole package.
The message is put together badly and in some parts the constant hippie-music in the background really distracts from what could have been a good scene.
The pacing is pretty weird as well and the only thing that I enjoyed about it were the Takei-parts. Truly enjoyable.
>>
Why don't they just take Ibaar and push it somewhere else?
>>
Here's a simple test. Tell me one time in Rebels where they go against the Empire and don't escape purely to luck of someone being a bumbling idiot on the Empire's side.

If they begin to justify everything that doesn't make sense the episodes would last twice as long, realism is the price to pay to have those space battle and space monks.

This episode.
They barely got away.

Their escapes were the will of the Force.

"No, pay no mind at all to that never before seen aircraft with unknown fire power! We can't spare a single ship to even try and stop it!"

I'm talking about the beginning of the episode.

Will he one day be able to drink his coffee without being interrupted ?

Well. I appear to have reached a horror/zombie-episode. With body-parts chopped off from moving corpses. That's gruesome and pretty well done.
I mean. Geonosian zombies and Clones in the dark. The script must have written itself.

Please, the problem here is a fix that takes almost no time to fix.

A single bit of dialogue at the end saying the laser is simply too dangerous is all you need. Or the laser destructed in mid battle and the engineer is unsure he can reconstruct it because it took trial and error and luck the first time.

If you want a better story (but more costly) you can drop the laser and focus it on the idea that the Rebel fleet simply lacks anyship good and killing capitals (A-Wings are terrible at that job) so an engineer could offer 4-8 B-Wings armed with their TRADITIONAL weapons (which they even mentioned they are armed with in the episode) and simply have them concentrate fire.

The fleet is happy because now they have something that could harm capital ships in a reasonable time, the intro to the B-Wing is satisfying that is saves the day, and everything remains lore friendly

>>77429484
It is not usually fun to deal woth a character who is a stubborn moron
>>
>>77429437
So what? A proton torpedo bombardment would have offed those light cruisers too.

And B-Wings aren't well-armed because of their number of laser cannons, it's because they're the size of a freighter and can put more power into their guns.
