So did anyone hear about this?

http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/121356-the-clifford-the-big-red-dog-movie-is-coming-in-2016

What do you think? Personally, with live action and cg there's a 90% chance it'll suck but if done right it could be the comfiest movie in years.
>>
>>77420497
I heard about it just now
>>
Huh, last week I told my friend that I was waiting for a live-action/CGI film of Clifford and used OP's pic.
What I didn't expect it to be a comedy/adventure, for some reason. More along the lines of some light hearted action/adventure thing.
>>
>>77420497
Wait what.

Man this is unexpected.
>>
>Even Clifford the Big Red Dog as to have muted colors

I hate modern Hollywood
>>
>>77421079
That's fanart, not concept art for the film
>>
>>77421079
Then go see the peanuts movie. All the colors in them are bright as fuck, sometimes brighter than their old-video equivalents.

I'm not joking, I actually had to point out "So that's why they call themselves 'blue sky', goddamn."

Peanuts is a very colorful movie.
>>
>gem flopped
>another company makes another cartoon "remake"
God damn companies are too lazy with making original movies at least make a take a cartoon with decent grounded stories like fucking madeline
>>

>live action version of X

NO STOP IT

NEXT YOU'LL TELL ME THERE'S A LIVE ACTION VERSION OF THE BERSTEIN BEARS
>>
>>77421283
>Gem, an all live action with no CGI animal in it, flopped.

>Scooby Doo
>Smurfs made a shitload of money.
>Alvin and the Chipmunks made a shitload of money
>Even fucking SPONEGEBOB was a success when they did the "CGI character in the real world" thing, way better than the 2D movie ever did.

Do you see the issue here with your comparison?

Was that supposed to be a stab at the 1998 Madeline movie that bombed?

What the fuck? That is way too goddamn obscure to be a joke.
>>
>>77421305
Real talk, senpai, I could have sworn I heard that was in the making.
>>
>>77421613
Fuck,I forgot that movie existed
>>
>>77420497
>>77420987

Yeah I was thinking about this recently too. It could be pretty fun like Where the Wild Things Are.
>>
>>77420497
I honestly don't hate the idea. I mean, if it's produced to make it timeless and heartwarming. But most likely the movie will be injected with pop culture references and have some famous rapper in it who also performs the soundtrack.

> a mix of live-action and computer animation.
> a mix of live-action and computer animation.
>a mix of live-action and computer animation.

Fuck.
>>
>>77420497
I feel this would look pretty awkward and dumb, to be perfectly honest. I mean, I'm not expecting the height of comedy or particularly good writing (I'm just imagining a joke about Clifford peeing being a main joke in the trailer), but I think it would benefit from an animated feature instead.
>>
>>77421753
I'm hoping the producers have the decency to respect the sauce material. Making us love the island and its inhabitants will be a key factor in making sure it doesn't suck.

Is it unrealistic to hope for a kid-friendly Moonrise Kingdom in terms of setting and atmosphere?
>>
>>77420497
well that is the wrong kind of dog for one thing.. the whole point of clifford is he's a labrador. the major 'kid brings home a cute puppy that turns into a big lumbering dumbass' breed.
>>
>>77420987
Yes OPs pic as concept art could be great but this is going to turn out just like that Marmaduke movie. Or Garfield.
>>
>>77421938
or country bears. which, despite using real costumes thank god, that looked pretty good, was... adapting a source material that's all source and no actual material.
>>
>>77421305
Berstain you fucking reddit fuck.

It is going to be animated.

Oh, and by the way? There's plenty of non-adaptations and sequels, you just don't watch them because they don't have a fuckhuge budget, so you find some little niggle to explain why you don't want to see it instead, because despite all that we say all you really care about is
>Is it a big budget movie
>How hard is it being marketed.

>tfw work at movie theatre
>tfw have to listen to Alvin """sing""" Uptown Suck every ten minutes

I thought the actual song was bad, but this is hell.

it must be a typo, because they should release a teaser by now
>>
This show ended 10 fucking years ago. The books are still being made I guess, but who the fuck is going to watch this movie? I don't think little kids have had that much Clifford exposure. I guess the extremely niche adult Clifford fandom that I'm sure exists, and that I'm scared to find out anything about, will watch it.
>>
>>77423076
I tried looking for the fandom and I found this.

https://www.fanfiction.net/u/6347440/arvinsharifzadeh

They, apparently a 17 year old muslim boy, have published almost 400 stories, including 65 "rap battles" about various children's TV shows in less than a year.

They have also written dozens of "We Didn't Start the Fire" parodies for different shows.

Some memorable summaries:

After Hitler refuses to give Clifford back to Emily Elizabeth, Daffodil ran away and tries to rescue Clifford.

This is the Clifford puppy days what if. It show what would've happen or should've happen. it not going to be every single episode. it rated M, because of some chapter will have gore, spooky stories, and death.

When Clifford was depressed, Emily Elizabeth decided to take Clifford and his friend back to the city with Clifford old friend. Meanwhile, Sagwa got banished after poisoning the magistrate with the tea. Sagwa's parents are disappoint at her and decided to disown her.
>>
>>77423256
And some fanart is actually pretty cool, like in OP's pic. Some is not as great.
>>
>>77423317
Some of them are pretty funny though.
>>
>>77423076
I'm really sad to say, but that's not a disqualifier.

The last move before Alvin and the Chipmunks was Alvin&TCM Meet the wolfman in the year 2000, and then the next movie was a huge hit, and the sequel managed to be an even bigger hit while fighting Avatar.

The Smurfs didn't have a movie since fucking 1989. That's Nineteen Fucking Eighty Nine, and it's movie was a blockbuster.

This is a remarkably easy sell to investors, at least they're still making books.
>>
>>77423317
Fuck damn it.
>>
>>77423364
Actually, looking at it, the author died last year, and I think the books that they release this year might be the last ones.
>>
>>77423317
Why are people into this?
>>
>>77422347
Thee MST3K reboot will probably be good next year.
>>
>>77423256
fanfiction.txt's twitter account has posted his "rap battles" before

they are something to behold
