Hey /co/ so I'm doing an essay on a graphic novel and I need some help. Do have any recommendations on a graphic novel that I can analyze, specifically its psychological characters?
Your pic related is probably the best option for that, regardless of it's quality. You can think it's the best or the worst graphic novel ever, it's still pretty good for analyzing.

Technically not a graphic novel though.
I'd say Fun Home is better. Both for analyzing and in general. Plus you'll get bonus points for choosing obscure coming of age story over the most well-knownanti?capeshit of all time.
Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth
Always Miracleman

It's an enormous success on Broadway right now. It's great, really great, but lets not jerk ourselves off for having read some unknown gem.
Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron is like taking a guided tour of a man's mind.

Try looking for long running series by the same art team. There's a countless amount outside of America with Japanese Manga and European Albums. A full arc or a full story can be worth hundreds or even thousands of pages.
And try Osamu Tezuka's Buddha. It's got a beginning, middle and end, but it's pretty long in page length.

Maus is perfect, trust me I had to do one last year, Maus is a great one in terms of art, story and impact on the real world

Would manga work? Akira seems like a good thing to look into.
If that doesnt suit you maybe I Kill Giants would be as good.

If you're looking for something simple and interesting, write an essay on how The Dark Knight Returns saved and promptly changed how Batman was forever perceived.
