I don't remember that in any of my comics/cartoons growing up. I think in the first run comic they first meet in Vietnam. Her a teenage girl and him somewhat older already wearing the mask. And no CC in sight so he wasn't involved in that as far as I know.

Villain couples (why it's not about vicious back-stabbing) are safe because the show is not about them. They get to be a couple without sudden break-ups or romantic rivals showing up in the name of drama.

He also wiped her mind a grand total of three times, implied much more, to keep it secret then when he couldn't keep it anymore she revealed she knew all along regardless.
