Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Wreck It Ralph are on the sequel train by Disney and Pixar Animation just to make a quick buck. What's there left to tell?
I hate this sequel thing where movies purposefully leave out a fulfilling ending and tease at a sequel that you might see if the box office is high enough. Ratatouille ended so well. There weren't any loose ends, poetic justice was served, etc. They would have to find a whole separate plot to go off of, and even then, the tension of "he's a rat that can think" is gone, the tension between the main couple is gone, the tension over Skinner trying to ruin things is gone, because he got the place closed at the end. The father-son tension is gone, the critics were all won over. Every character served its purpose, and to continue the story somehow you would lose the multiple levels of tension and conflict that made the film interesting. If you watched the short film they made after the film, they even joke about and acknowledge the weird culture clash between humans and rats that talking animals would create, and they laugh it off.
I could say this about some of the other sequels that Pixar has already made but I just don't want them to prioritize awkwardly extending a good movie's characters to a new conflict over creating something entirely new.
