Wolverine is without a doubt my favorite super hero.
I've always thought he was cool, even as a kid. In every X-Men cartoon he was always the toughest, most badass, guy on the team and that left an impression. Plus my uncle, who is a huge comic nerd, was a big fan of Wolverine and he was a big influence on my taste in media in general (he also really got me into Godzilla).
Not to mention his healing factor was the ultimate trump card in any schoolyard "character X could totally beat character Y in a fight" debate.
Also he actually killed the bad guys and I didn't know of many superheroes who actually did that as a kid (I was an edgy little shit).
Then as I got older I started seeing another really interesting side to his character. His life was a never ending tragedy. No matter what he did, no matter who he met, no matter how many teams he joined, he couldn't hold onto happiness for very long. But, despite all the bullshit he went through he kept getting back up and he kept moving forward. He's tenacious and never gives up, no matter how bad things seem, no matter how impossible the task seems, Wolverine does not stop fighting until he can't fight anymore. It's a trait that I wish I had. I've always had a shitty work ethic and find myself so quick to give up on a task, no matter how important it is. I wish I was more like Wolverine, I wish I was as tenacious and always willing and able to get back on my feet no matter how hard I've been hit (the healing factor would also be pretty awesome).

Granted, I started with Way's run, and I kind of liked what I saw (This was before I really got into comics, so I didn't know better), but didn't think much of Wade as a character. Then Posehn and Duggan's run began, and that's when I fell in love with the character, and then went back to read Nicieza and Kelly.
Because I never want to give up either.

Pym because he struggles with all sorts of emotional problems. He continually tried to reinvent himself and every time doesn't see the flaw he creates. And every time he has a shot of making a life for himself, he gets just within reach and then fucks it all up. Sometimes on purpose.

Because he does his best to help people and genuinely likes humanity. It's something I try to emulate.
Alright, so he bites off more than he can chew like, all the time, but even still, he always gets back up when he's knocked down (which happens a lot) and keeps on fighting for what he believes in.
