Those last two pages definitely had a Spectre vibe to them. Might be because that was pretty much the only time religion was sort of shown to be important in Hal's life.

I hope so too. Not only is the writing mediocre in GL, but the DC cosmic universe seems so shallow and thinly spread. Here, King can run his imagination wild, without much interference from editors. Giant cosmic battles seem to fit King's former line of work as well.

When solicits come out for that book and it says "with an unexpected guest that will change everything!" I know it's just gonna be fucking Relic so I don't even get surprised.

To be fair Relic has only shown up in 2 stories so far. Lights Out which Venditti is clearly showing regret for as he is ignoring the ramifications of it and God-Head where he had a great appearance of being stuck in the source wall until the very end.
A big majority of his problems stem from Tan being on art and trying to differentiate himself from Johns which isn't helping him as everyone is mad that this isn't Johns anymore.

I don't care that he's trying to differentiate himself from Johns, it would be boring if another writer came on and just made Johns GL 2.0. But it's the way he's trying to differentiate himself. Blowing up all of Oa and making Hal the only GL alive? And not to mention the fact that the lanterns have actually been draining the universe of it's life or some shit every time they use their rings so the whole universe hates them now. Plus for the most part he's been doing the same kind of "universe shattering "nothing will ever be the same!" events people got tired of Johns doing.
