You should watch the TV show, m8, by all accounts it's a pretty faithful adaptation of Swamp Thing-era JohnCon, and if nothing else it is a very very good serialised horror show in its own right.

Strange, while Fate is power god of order, he is bound to the helmet, Strange has delt with beings like Fate, and probably has a few of them stashed in his house. I know that I sound super biased posting this, but, for me, it comes down to Wizard vs Power Magical Item, and more often than nought the Wizard wins.

For being incredible forces of magic and power, both are so retardedly gimped and poorly written that it's embarrassing.
These two should easily be the powerhouses of their respective universes because of how ridiculously powerful magic is supposed to be, but both are consistently beaten and brushed aside like they're common thugs.
I feel like both are just waiting for the right person to come along and make them great, but that's never going to happen, because writers seem to be so worried about making them overpowered that they turn them into powerless pussies instead.

Fate's had two good clix (Con LE and the new SM/WW) but nearly every modern Strange has been great. SI could break stealth before that was even a thing, GG was a damn tank that could shoot through his Astral pals across the map, the gravity feed one was great support and handed out ESD to adjacent dicks, and ASM Strange could set up cool defensive chains with his trait. Plus the 2 new ones, I haven't really messed with those.

They're pretty much equally inconsistent, with reality-shattering highs, muck-raking lows and points in between that range from brilliant to full retard. The main pattern that either one follows is that Fate will stay out of things because muh order while Strange breaks the rules and gets his powers taken away for it, so you've got the guys who can but won't vs. the guy who will but can't.

I think that givs him an advantage as well because Dr.Fate is a lord of Order and would probably only use that magic. But Dr. Strange has been shown to bond with demons for boosts. He is a good magician but he's not really limited to using good magic, he would do dark arts stuff too

While I agree with you, I have to point out that most magic users are using their own power, but rather the mystical energies around them. The diffrence is that while Strange wields that power alone, Fate requires a host. Now, I will admit that I don't know much about Fate, I'm pretty casual when it comes to him, the required host stipulation seems like a huge handicap to me. I could very easily be wrong though, this is simply one anon's opinion.
