I can think of a couple things that could mean, and none of them make sense.
You could be saying that Kaz is railroading her to becoming the hero, but having the option to become the hero doesn't mean that reader suggestions can't change her course. And Kat not being the hero doesn't mean that Kaz isn't railroading the hell out of his story.
You could be saying that the Elder Scrolls universe is canonically preordained to a point, meaning that if she becomes the hero she was always fated to become the hero, but that's true for every occupation she could end up at. Hell, it's MORE true for scenarios where Katia isn't the hero, since heroes are not completely bound by fate.
You could be saying that even if the universe wasn't preordained, we know there is going to be a hero, since Oblivion clearly had a protagonist; but again, that's true for all cases where you accept that Katia Managan canonically exists in the Elder Scrolls universe. From the point of view of Skyrim, her life is long over whether or not she was the hero. That doesn't imply that it doesn't matter what choices she makes in her present.

the THEME of the comic is that, for someone who isn't a hero, things aren't going to work like they do for heroes. Katia has been having 'adventures' for her entire youth, she tried to do exactly what you say and start anew clean and it immediately blew up in her face, she wasn't just dropped in the middle of a fateful event, she got off the boat, got drunk off her ass and has done nothing but try to make up for the fuck ups she made while trying to make up for other fuck ups.
She was painfully dragged through multiple failures just to somehow put her mind on the right track, and even then there's no certainty she's going to make it through, and even THEN, it's just a meager fetch quest and she doesn't really have a plan afterwards. She's stuck on a shitty situation she made for herself, she can't just grind and grind until she's rich and powerful because that doesn't work for people who aren't prodigies like the game heroes are, but that's what makes her special, because she's not that prodigy, she's imperfect and the way she interacts with this fantasy world tailored for legendary adventurers feels real. Making her the hero would dump all of that and discard the character she is for someone else.

Katia suffers from low self esteem and is trying to leave her old life behind. There's some crazy magical destiny bollocks going on with her nightmares, nightmares that specifically involve royalty. The comic has only gone through about five canonical days, and in those five days Katia has gone through a significant amount of character growth. It's not too much to assume that in the next two or three days that growth will continue. That she'll gain full confidence in herself, the confidence necessary to be a goddamn hero. Or t least a competent murderhobo, because the protagonist of Oblivion is only as good as you are. The audience input lends itself well to that, the whole comic could be like a Twitch Plays for Oblivion.

They were drawn gray. Doing it in color and converting to grayscale means things that previously had good contrast may not anymore, if their contrast was based on hue rather than value. It's unnecessary work that potentially leads to more problems.

I honestly can't believe this argument is still going on. The argument shouldn't even BE about the plausibility of either turnout, they're both plausible in their own way. Like I've said many times, I'm fine with it going however. But this is fanfiction, fanfiction based on a game that (in theory) is supposed to allow the player to play how they want. After all, one can beat the main questline without having ever joined the Fighters Guild. In fact it always struck me as a bit silly that one can be the guildmaster of fucking everything in addition to saving the world from a Daedric prince (while also having done the bidding of all the others and even becoming one).
There's another webcomic/article thing I remember. The guy playing makes the ugliest fucker he can, and spends the entire game as a hapless nobody, doing petty jobs to pay for food and what have you until he died in a bandit attack or something and ended the playthrough. People have a really skewed understanding of how any of the Gods tie into heroes and in all honesty they basically don't, because they can't.
