Anyone can be a critic. Being a good critic requires that your assessments be more based in reason than sentiment.
In a setting like Rick and Morty's, it is true that not everything gets explained, and in some ways that's part of the appeal. You're kinda swept up in the adventures, you see some of their adventures but aren't omniscient.
However, the idea that a character like Evil Morty coming back being "Pandering" is admittedly dumb. You have a character who obviously has grander ambitions, never got caught. and didn't get to accomplish his goals.
For the record, Roiland has said that he might return in season 3. Nothing set in stone, but not disqualified either.
