That wasn't the episode I saw. What I was getting at was that it looked like it would be significantly funnier to a child. I laughed once or twice, but most of the jokes didn't land for me.
Also, another note: the main character's design forces the comparison to Sailor Moon, and it isn't very favorable. Usagi is a much more charming character, so that definitely casts the show in a worse light.

The gems are tough, but they're hampered by the fact that A)They all leave their achilles heels fully exposed at all times, and B) they're all melee fighters. Aside from Pearl occasionally throwing her spear ineffectively, the gems all need to get up close and personal to do damage. Star could probably take them down just using the Painbow.
