The Ultron trailer was built around the villain of the movie and all the shit he was putting the heroes through, it makes sense that it's a dramatic trailer. If the BvS trailer had been centered around Luthor, I would be okay with a darker tone. Instead, we get like 2 minutes of Superman against various grey backgrounds and people saying depressing things.

I am annoyed that this isn't handled better in the trailer. I honestly wish they focused on this and left out the stare down which serves no fucking purpose for the narrative. There's what people want to see, and what they get.
People wanted to see Superman and be reminded of the golden age of America and feel emotionally uplifted. Fleischer with modern effects and action, a lead-in to Justice League.
Instead, they got what's basically dramatized 9/11 and some really dark subject matter along with a lot of symbolism making it an odd tasteless Michael Bay meets Stanley Kubrick vibe. It leaves a really bad taste in the mouth from that level of difference.
No matter how internet jokes go, it still is true that Americans look at reminders of 9/11 in a very sober, and angry way. Still a very traumatized people in that regard.
It's a lot like Lady In The Water. DC has had their first DCCU movie out with Man of Steel. Now they're jumping right into the crossover that introduces Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg. I mean do people honestly think this movie won't be either A. Too long or B. A complete mess?
Say the movie is 2hr and 30min (run time of both Avengers movies) including credits. That's 150 min
-10 for the credits is 140.
Batman's intro is around 20 min
Wonder Woman is around 20 min
Superman reestablishing after MoS is around 20.
There is the first hour. Now you have one hour and twenty minutes left.
Let's put 20 on Lex so he has some motivation and backstory, not including his actual plot in action, 15 on the fight between Batman and Superman, 25 on the climax fight, and another 20 giving Gal Godot and Jason Momoa their paychecks. That leaves 20 minutes to actually do a plot to the story. That is unless you under develop the characters and push story first.
Either way it will be shit.
