It was a mediocre movie, but so are many other kids movies and that didn't stop them from making tons of money. It's not particularily hated on /co/, at best it's one of the many movies /co/ is mostly indifferent about.

Because while it was good, it wasn't good enough.
It felt like subpar Disney faire. The villain was pretty obvious from the getgo and only existed as a parallel for Hiro, which is incredibly difficult to do well because you need to strongly establish who the protag is so their counterpart has a dramatic weight to him. And they didn't do that strongly enough so him being a parallel type villain didn't work as well.
I would've loved if it was like, Yokai(who's never named onscreen, this is a problem) was acting on the behalf of Tadashi's last brainwaves, so it comes down to Baymax and Yokai, both different inventions of the brothers acting on Tadashi's will in some way.
Also the ending of "now we're superheroes" is out of place, since the city never demonstrated any kind of need for them. If there was a part in the middle where Yama comes back with larger-scale battlebots it'd be better.
