The art is inconsistent as fuck, and outright lazy and grotesque at times. It's not good stylization, especially when you look at the multitude of other much better looking stylized comics. The writing is cringe worthy, it's so fucking try hard but it all falls so flat.
Literally everything it's trying to do has been accomplished better, and by another marvel book no less? The fucking mrs Marvel book, for all the flaws with the pacing, actually has good fucking art and writing that's at least somewhat endearing.

I hate the way this is drawn. I can't quite explain exactly why. It just looks so Wacom-tablet-y.
There's no feeling to it, no sense that the artist has ever practiced figure drawing or even held a pencil, just typical webcomic backwards refined stylisation. With great cartooning you can always see the circles making up the characters, the confidence the artist has in assembling the underlying structure.

Ok, review time: dialogue starts out like shit and gets slightly better when Kraven shows up.
Art looks awful. However at the same time I realize the artist knows what he wants to do, so i'll give it the benefit of doubt and say he still has to design his style properly, and it can get better in the future.

Okay just setting aside the stupidity of this just from a universal standpoint... since you're clearly not going to give her her own rogues, you're literally blowing your load in the second issue by pitting her against the worst shit 616 has to offer, presumably to defeat him in a nonviolent way as well. So, if I was making a squirrel girl ongoing, here's what I'd do.
I'd send her to her own city, somewhere where there wasn't a lot of heroes already in Marvel. Maybe somewhere considered a little silly, in real life. Like Des Moines.
I'd give her her own rogues gallery, made up of colorful, Silver Age feeling villains and have her have old school rock 'n' sock superhero fights with em as they do things like rob banks and perform art heists and stuff.
And once or twice I'd have big name Marvel heroes show up and job like fuck to these wacky colorful villains to imply that Squirrel Girl is fighting the worst of the worst.

the book could improve on humor that is not always working and often falls flat. the art could use some better faces, as they look just plain bad. the plot was okay, nothing special. the bottom commentaries feel like a bad idea as they didn't feel coherent and were a chore to read. the overall set-up is okay, and there is some potential, and it's possible that the book will have ms. marvel type of success, meaning that it will sell good digitally.

It looks like a cheap webcomic. Artist is bad at depicting action. There's no atmosphere to any of the backgrounds, not interesting shapes, no hatching or shading, nothing, so it gives off that "flatness" you're talking about. Zero sense of perspective so many objects jist end up looking like wonky blobs. Horrible anatomy (just look at the guy on his tablet on page 10 or that walking black guy on page 5, just not sense of weight or gesture). Artist also sucks at character design (literally all of the black characters in this look the same, for example, and almost everyone is making that same fucking derp face).
It just looks so slapdashed and lazy, they couldn't even have bothered to draw the speedlines on Galactus in the last panel correctly.

We're honestly spoiled now. Thousands of artists from all over the world are being discovered and getting the chance to show their stuff. Squirrel Girl might be written horribly, and the faces may look like beaver anus, but at least it's different. Marvel took a chance, and I'm glad they're doing that instead of looking for samey Liefeld ripoffs 20+ years ago. All New Ghost Rider wouldn't exist then, but it does now for the same reason tumblr Squirrel Girl does.

I Liked it. The art remind me of webcomics more than anything, but its still pretty enjoyable. And the story is ok for a first issue, so ill give it a chance to passe up later instead of whining like baby right away.
