This comic was drawn by a russian child in the Middle Ages while he was bored during a lesson.

that stylization in the first panel's actually pretty interesting, with a single line and stub hands representing the whole body. He might've turned out to be a pretty good comic artist if the time had been right.

These four drawings are from separate pieces. Each "panel" is actually a piece of wood with a drawing on it, they are not part of the same "comic".

Slavs were basically a cyborg slave caste in the olden times. This is clearly a child who was spared so he could tell the tale of his people.

He also probably died at 40, or earlier because of disease or just general medieval tomfoolery, like war, intrigues, dragon attack.

Fake. The real drawings have a lump below the head, either shoulders or a scarf or something.
>>
>>66602644
This what I always wonder.

How do archaeologists know that what they found is significant and not just somebody making something to wack off to? Like the statue of Venus, that fat woman rock that is supposedly some sort of "idol" representing fertility in that cultures people thousands of years ago. Yet it was found near some river. What if it was just some chubby chaser with the capacity for stonework and he wanted something good to look at because all the hoes in his village were skinny and ugly?

Would you burn crop and sacrifice animals for your favorite drawing?
Would you build a whole temple full of priests just to store it?
>>
>>66602912
Trust me, archaeologists have thought of that interpretation. There's still debate on that statue and others.

It's been a while since I was in school, but I had an archaeology professor who used to joke/talk shit about the conclusions some academics come to. She noted that if an object's use wasn't obvious, scholars would just chalk it up to religion.

They certainly do know about the possibility. That's why archeological finds that are similiar to others are such a big deal and interesting to them. Of the Venus idols you mentioned exist several examples from all kinds of different places so that we definitely can establish a cultural connection. Now the real question is what these were good for:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_dodecahedron

Were they just for decoration? Some practical purpose? Or just the Roman version of the pet rock?
