That's how you can tell neither he nor Dobson have actually played a Zelda game that wasn't also old enough to drive.
They treat the old games as gospel while simultaneously giving them shit for being poorly thought out and written (almost as if it was a console game with 15 year old technology!). Hell, they even both like the CD-I games, just because Zelda was playable, despite everyone hating them, or at best, liking them as a guilty pleasure.
The worst part of it? There's some good ideas in there. The idea of Zelda being a Prince of Persia style magic fighter, who has to focus on ranged attacks since she can't take a hit for shit? That could work. Let's say that Diaz could pull his head out of his ass enough to admit that, well, every personality he put there was shit, this could work.
In this hypothetical universe, perhaps even parallel to Skyward Sword, Zelda rushes off to try to fight the main villain, who's name I don't know because I sold my Wii around the time I got to the desert. But unlike what I suspect happens in the real Skyward Sword, she's clever enough to find some items herself, similiar to link. But while Link gets weapons, she gets magical artifacts. Link tries to rescue her since, despite her magical ability, she's basically an untrained civilian (explaining why basically every hit Zelda would take would wreck her shit), while Link is a trained knight. You switch between characters at certain points through the game, sometimes even fighting the same bosses, if the other couldn't finish them off. By the last boss, they'd basically fight radically differently, and you'd get a free ability (maybe a C-button item) to switch between the two almost instantly.
Despite that though, their general strategies would fit in how the rest of the series treated their respective fighting styles, with Zelda favoring protection, long ranged, and light spells, while Link would focus on close range attacks, and basically be how he usually fights.
