Because in one-shot guest appearances, he usually is treated as an adversary that needs to be overcome. Ostrander's run is much more character-focused, where the mantle of the Spectre is more of a test that Corrigan struggles with. Highly recommended.

Dude. It didn't stopped with the 0 issue. Nick Necro became the focus of the major arc that took place in JLD before Dematteis came in and he showed up again as one of the baddies during Blight. He's now one of the major enemies John has.

I get that continuity is a whole thing to people but when it comes to "versions of characters" continuity is less relevant.
