I remember Proud Family really pissed me off as a kid because it seemed like it could never decide what kind of show it wanted to be.
One week you'd have some grounded, slice-of-life episode where a new kid joins the school or Penny and one of her friends have a fight or one of her parents loses a job. And then the next week Penny would discover she could talk to animals or Sugar Mama and her sister have telekinetic power, or the kids go up against an evil Al Roker genie.
Hell, I can even remember this schizophrenia happening within single episodes. Penny's and LaCienega's families go on a camping trip together and have a rough time... then suddenly for some reason Oscar and Felix are attacked by a Pterodactyl and end up in a tropical Lost World jungle for the rest of the episode.
The fact that they had crossovers with shit like Lilo and Stitch just makes the whole thing that much weirder.
