There are more than a few exceptions to the "no anthers" rule on /co/, mostly important or contemporarily relevant cartoon characters. For instance, Bugs Bunny gets an exclusion (as long as it isn't porn), as do the merry melody and loony tunes crews, and classic Disney or Hannah-Barbara characters, because they have historic importance.
Likewise, Tuff Puppy, those mouse detective girls, Howard the Duck, and Callie Briggs get exclusions as "contemporary" cartoon characters.
But "mods are asleep post X" type crap shouldn't fly here or on any board.
In summary: as long as the mods remember that cartoons can include funny talking humanoid animals, and the denizens of /co/ handle these funny talking humanoid animals responsibly, those characters can safely dwell on /co/.

As far as threads getting deleted I've seen waifu threads get deleted for somewhat clear reasons and I've seen clean threads talking about anthro characters get deleted
As far as Webcomics go, like one anon said, we've talked about Sabrina Online and Vicki Fox before. Although the later is clean as hell and the author made sure of that.
Then there was the Las Lindas threads. Those usually vary on what's being posted in them. Someone dumped the whole main comic and side stuff and the threads were fine. And the new strip stuff would either hit page 10 or hit the bump limit a few times. Pure cheesecake stuff got the boot though for obvious reasons.
It really all depends on the mods and janitors and what's being posted in the threads.

I think talking furry related stuff, while fun and I'd love to do at times, is something that just can't be done in a place like 4chan as a whole. Sure we can post the porn and talk how edgy and ridiculous some of the content can be, but we don't do it with a passion real furries have, sad truth it is as most times I wonder why we don't, then we see all the hell it brings when Anti-furries and furries clash, then it becomes not about the content really but the people surrounding it and spirals down from there, which is why we have sites like u18chan to be dedicated to such things.
TLDR: I don't hate furries, yes some can be down right weird and annoying, but every fandom isn't perfect. I still keep up to date with most web comics, even jack though it has been on hiatus and god knows when it will come back.
P.S the best furry related web comic I've ever read probably goes to Kit and Kay Boodle. Freakin hilarious.
