I can relate to all the social anxiety in her comics it hurts and I think I really have to do something about it. I just literally spent 45 minutes compsing a two sentence e-mail to a professor and rereading it 30 times before clicking send. Same goes with text messages to cool people that make me nervous with their coolness. Also this post was close to being deleted since nobody gives a fuck.

You gotta admit, though, he does have a point. Most of these tumblr original comics have a lot of introspection - even more so than some comics that present heavy monologues. There seems to be a trend that criticizes/praises individuals in their social environment or lack of one.

It's almost unique to find something in this new wave that actually shows, say, a dude broing it out with his friends and having a good time or a girl interacting with her whacko jerk/goodish buddies as a central element to the comic.

Well, everyone likes being talked to, sure. But... well, shit, let me explain it this way.

Hajime Kanzaka was a mild mannered salaryman. He was soft spoken, a decent white collar worker, but you wouldn't be able to pick him out of a crowd.

Like most white collared workers, he had hobbies. On the few occasions he wasn't working or filing some report he would play Dungeons and Dragons with his friend, Rui Arazumi. Kanzaka would write the campaigns, and Rui would draw the characters out on paper - he wasn't very good, but he liked doing it. Rui's wife acted as the DM - mostly because Kanzaka and Rui liked playing the game and solving the various conflicts in wacky unorthodox ways.

They started with a generic enough concept. A setting where a chosen dragon hero fought against the forces of evil. As a goof, they had the chosen dragon hero's younger sister(A DMPC) be a money grubbing sociopath. It's a standard joke most tabletop gamers would make - to liven up the session with some humor.

But then something interesting happened. Kanzaka decided to change the campaign around and play as the younger sister, and make the dragon hero the DMPC. Suddenly, the entire premise of the sessions changed. It wasn't a generic quest to stop the evil demon overlord, it was a quest to get as much gold as possible all while WORKING AROUND the evil demon overlord.

The sessions were so fun, that Kanzaka wrote up a short story and sent it to a publisher. That short story became Slayers, and that DMPC became Lina Inverse, Sorceress Supreme and one of the best anti-heroes in all of fiction.

My point to all that is this: If a Japanese Salaryman with long work hours can still find the time to be creative and fun, if LINA FUCKING INVERSE can come from the mind of a man who spent all his hours filing papers, then what excuse do we got?

We, who have more time than ever, more means to reach an audience, is the best we can do truly "Gee talking to people is hard sometimes guys?"
>>
>>64608091

I don't know. Have a story set about a female rookie cop in a precinct, fresh from academy learning the rope of a hilariously corrupt but not quite evil coppers who end up doing the right thing the wrong way?

What about a panel gag series of a graduate from the Great Amadeus School of Liches and Necromancers finally entering the playing field and finding out it's not as bombastic as it's all cracked up to be, with demon negotiations having terms after terms of insanity and stupidity while he tries to keep his sights on the domination of the kingdom?

Or even a comic of Death's Personification and a random ghost of a 1960s hippy protester and a 1980s former womanizing rookie footballer watching Death's Personification reap souls and give commentary, sometimes nonsensical, sometimes philosophical, always complicated?
>>
As insufferable as cutesy introspective autobiographical comics are, these aren't that bad, since at least they have a big of of self depreciation and humility.

Considering that the alternative seems to be "The world is mean to me even though I am a goddess. Stop being so sexist, world!", these aren't bad. They're almost good, even.

Liberals are actually pretty doom and gloom in a way that's less common in conservatives until you get to the fringe.

That said, you've got to give a fuck to be cruel. A more accurate description of the world would be dispassionate or unconcerned. Knowing the difference can be liberating, especially for people concerned about what others think about them. You can live the life you want if no one cares enough to stop you.

I am like this fellow here >>64609277 in the fact that I am a brony. But where I live, most fans seem to be elusive. They are here, but keep to themselves.

I am however planning to try and get a convention running. I have vendors interested, it is just a matter of spreading the word. Tired of being a elusive and reclusive bastard.

Not that I have ever heard of, seen, or anything. The funny thing is the state I live in, has the highest concentration of fans found pretty much anywhere. And yet, in my city, silence.

And I was part of the first wave of fans. One of the very, very few who are still around and haven't left. And yet, almost no one knows that.

I agree with you, if I had artistic talent I would want to tell a story with my art, not talk about my own shitty life that no one cares about. If I tried making comics like these I'd probably hang myself after the first 10.

If you're going to talk about your life at least do it through a self insert character that has something interesting going on, like a superhero character who fights monsters and shit in between whining.

No, California.

You are one of the first, first wave individuals I have met that has not become disillusioned with everything and left. I remember when you could go down the Toys R Us aisle and the section was small. Now, it takes up the whole side of the aisle.

Not him but I see where you're coming from. Comics like the one in the OP are probably fun for venting but if you have the time and the talent why not create something new? These comics get a laugh and a "iktf" and so they have their place but there's little else beyond that. If you take these personal experiences and write them into a character then you got a character that people can relate to and root for. Then set them off on an adventure or something
>>
>oh man, I don't like these comics about introspection because they make me feel awful

this isn't funny, this isn't thought provoking, it's just a girl trying to act kooky and anxious to get attention and money and people will fall for it over and over
>>
>>64610787
A lot of webcomic creators make a long ongoing story, then a short slice of life mini comic thing for shit they don't want to put into their main comic. I think the girl in OP was making these little comics with a fountain pen and ink while she was in college just as a stress reliever.

Yeah except that's a steaming load of horse shit. There's "social norms" here just like every other place.

LMAO, see, if I type like this xDD I get banned. ^_^;;

Maybe an extreme example, but there's nothing special and liberating about 4chan. Somewhat related, but what's your opinion on the corruption to the term introvert? It used to mean a people who keeps their thoughts to themselves, more overanalytical and very selective with what he lets others know about him, the opposite of extrovert.

You know why I like the anonymity on here? Because the last place I posted on that had accounts I'd have my post completely ignored, or worse: opposed, simply because everyone knew that I was A.) younger than the rest(not around 30), and B.) not American.
Either they knew better because they were older and so ignored the researched responses I put forward in favour of their own personal experience, or I wasn't allowed a say because I wasn't American and so I couldn't possibly know anything about a topic like separation of church and state and its importance, or why young earth creationism doesn't have a valid place next to evolution.

One guy, a 29-year-old man, thought I hated him and would oppose him at every turn because I had been on the opposite side in another discussion, and other people actually acted like that. That shit is just fucking crazy, and I love the fact that it can't happen on here in the same way.

Then when they say they're busy and can't this week you have your fears proven and can proceed to die alone.

But if none of the others EVER contact you first, that would have to mean
a) you were right to assume they didn't really want to see you again

Observation easily disproves b), which leaves only a).

So basically this comic is stupid.

One of my accomplishments this year was when I actually managed to start playing ARAM games with my friend's group of friends without feeling like total shit. It was about what I could handle, because of how relatively unserious it is and how much faster the game can be. But then my friend asks if I want to play a proper game, or even worse: if I want to play against bots and try out new guys. Each fucking time we play on opposite teams in a bot-game he checks what character I'm trying out, and then he counter-picks it because he's competitive and actually keeps track of that kind of stuff while I just go with characters that seem to have a fun/good skill-set or whatever.

Funny thing is that I've actually had a LoL-account longer than any of them. I just couldn't ever play it because of the commitment a game takes.

And whenever I ask my friend if he wants to play a game that isn't LoL he's "not in the mood" for that type of game.

Women that want to be "just friends" have no interest in actually being friends. They just want you to give them all the attention they crave without putting in any effort of their own.
