Actually, I saw a recent episode and it was pretty awesome. Team Rocket was dressed up as Ash and friends, making trouble, but they don't dress up as the blond guy. The Ash goes into town and people immediately start noticing that they don't look or sound exactly the same. Eventually the police realizes they're being imitated and take Ash's group away, except for the blonde guy. Team Rocket was trying to separate them from the blonde guy to get him to build an invention for them.
And then during the fight, they actually steal pikachu and transport him miles away from Ash before they get blasted off.

I actually started watching this because I was bored recently. It's not great, even in a 'I can't believe I'm watching a show for X' way, but it IS really well written for the target audience. Like they do a type of intellectual/reference joke aimed at the 10 and under set that's pretty good. Not too dumbed down, not over the kids heads. I was actually more impressed with how skillfully the writers managed to aim it at their target audience than I would have been by outright 'enjoying' the show at my age.
