You know, I've got to say, volume 2 is really impressing me with the lack of things that made volume one suck.
They have lighting and basic sets, they have a cast larger than 12 people and some cardboard cutouts, they have consistent episode length, they have a fucking plot, and they're moving in the direction of making the main four multidimensional characters.
Well, not really Yang, but then again she's going to be on a solo adventure next episode (which as far as I can remember is the first time since Yellow she hasn't just been comic relief).

As far as the first episodes go, i think that there is still a big lack of character development, mostly it has all been focused on blake and she already had that last season, other than penny, no other character is getting any development, though there are some hints at future development to come, as in the case of Weiss.
Plot wise this season is doing it's job way better than last season, starting things off showing the villains, their apparent plans and mostly how they fit into the story, even if so far they are only bad guys without a story.
Animation is Still a little clunky but it is nowhere near as stiff and lifeless as it was last season, (compare it to episode 4 of last season and you'll see what i mean)
Overall this season has a lot of potential, and is already well on it's way to being more interesting and profound than last season.

We can assume that as half siblings the parent they share is their dad, due to Ruby mentioning him in the shared parent sense in the weapons locker room right before initiation.

SPEAKING of overprotective Ruby/Yang dad, who had both his daughters decide to become Huntresses, it's gotta be pretty friggin rare that people are gifted/talented enough to fight and use Aura at that level even with entry level training like Signal Academy would likely offer. I mean, look at all those helpless lay people, and how much Jaune (not actually in the top percentiles like his classmates are) sucks at fighting.
Heck, if we go by the chess piece artifact scheme from initiation, Ruby's entering class was at most 48 if we include at least one pair of pawns and duplicates of the white and black king and queen, and as few as 20 if we leave out pawns and group the king and queen across colors. Think about that. In a kingdom of likely tens if not hundreds of millions the only academy that trains future Hunters and Huntresses takes AT MOST ~50 per year.
These kids have to be like the friggin top one millionth (not an exaggeration) of fighters/students assuming Beacon is the only Hunter Academy they have. Even if the kingdom has as many as say 100 Hunter Academies with similar capacities and selectiveness, that's still the top 1% of the top 1% of humans.
So again, odds that this one man has not one but TWO daughters that qualify for the most dangerous job on the planet? This man was fated to suffer.
