>>64354635
> Implying the best Silly Song isn't the multimedia event that is the Song of the Cebu
>>64354762
Song of the Cebu doesn't have harmony. Therefore, it is not as good.

I thought The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything was great, even though it didn't really have any Bible references.

The worst I can think of is when they basically used the same plot twice for 2 different stories. bit disapointing.
stuffmart
So what kind of religious show was this, a pushy moralistic one or a fairly chill well meaning one? I'm not used to these sorts of things, being a Europoor.
>>64359219
Veggie Tales was an amazing show, regardless of religious context.
>>64357475
There isn't one
Tvtropes is terrible, by the way.
>>64358252
>used the same plot twice, for 2 different stories
So you mean they used the same plot four times?
>>64359219
howflaccid
>>64359219
Mostly the latter, imo.
>>64359219
Very chill, very friendly. Major themes are, "be kind to others, don't steal, everyone is important."
>>64356438
The whole movie was more of metaphor for the Christian faith as a whole, with the King as God, and the villain as Satan, than a specific Bible story adaptation. I don't know what significance the rock monsters had, though. Those seem to be getting more and more popular in Bible adaptations.
>>64359219
Chill and fun. My parents weren't the overly pushy moralistic religious types, but they showed me Veggie Tales. Mostly, it's just Bible story adaptations, teaching kids to forgive and not to lie, that sort of thing.

Sounds cool. Not religious myself but religious folk like that are okay in my book.

Thanks for letting us know.
Dreamworks is rebooting it on Netflix, with Doug Tenappel and Mike Nelson being among the crew on it.

>>64359219
chill happy morals, not at all pushy with anything. Religiousness is there but not to judge you or boss you around, just as the source of the morals and themes, bible stories adapted into wacky and goofy funny cartoon stories.
The jokes and gags were good and timeless, the songs were of course silly, and the whole thing memorable. For anyone who grew up with it, even if they grew out of the more religious stuff like me, it's a soft spot you can't ever be mad at.
>>64359766
half an hour.
>>64360033
>Doug Tenappel
I'm alright with this.
>>64360140
Considering how religious Tennapel and Nelson are, duh.
Dreamworks acquired Veggietales a couple years ago when they bought out Classic Media, which owned the libraries of UPA, Jay Ward, about half the Rankin Bass stuff, Lone Ranger, Veggietales, Lassie, Harvey Comics, Voltron and a bunch of other stuff.

Atheist-bro, former Catholic here -
Veggie Tales was awesome, and even though I think religion is harmful, I don't think that anything that VT tried to teach kids was harmful. You can really tell that the creators were less evangelists and more just people who wanted to focus on universal morals, biblical storytelling, and to have an outlet for their silly creativity.
I'm a mega-liberal, non-believer and I say Veggie Tales is A-OK in my book.
>>64360259WHY DO YOU NEED A HAIRBRUSH YOU DON'T HAVE ANY HAIR!

Pretty chill. I got a lot of the DVDs from more religious family members as a kid and loved them.
I listened to my Silly Songs with Larry CD until it broke.
>>64360406
yeah yeah, he was pretty much outright admitting to being that dumbass, just to nail in the point. You know people can think shit like that and not be a preachy fedorafag. Sort of like how vegitales can be religious and not be preachy and terrible for it.
But man, somehow you can't help but not be a faggot throwing memes at everyone. What's with that?
>>64360755
>But man, somehow you can't help but not be a faggot throwing memes at everyone. What's with that?
It's called bait. The only winning move is not to reply.
Other than that, pretty cool and tolerant thread. Sometimes you're all right /co/.
>>64360755
>he spent all that time replying to me because of a fucking overused meme even with how obvious bait it was
Okay but you look even stupider now because of that just so you know. Best not to ruin your reputation on an anonymous imageboard! :^)
you ignorant fucking dick

This better b gud.
>>64361068
I have never really heard of this person, but I tend to not follow creators.
What in his resume would make him a good fit for Bible stories featuring vegetables?
>>64361108
He's the brain behind Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood, mainly. In my opinion, he has a pretty unique sense of humor.
I feel like the reboot is going to end with the same line.
>God made you special and he loves you very much
To which the SJWs are going to flip their shit.
>>64361108
>>64361169
He's also a fundie that hates the gays.
>>64352231
I don't think we ever finished one of their movies or shows in a class, we would always end up watching it till the action happened and then instantly stopped.
I think the teacher knew we were starting to like it.

lol you sure got me!
>>64361239
Is that a problem?
>>64361253
I like how the first 5 or so episodes are just regular, kid friendly cartoons. Veggie Tales waits until your parents leave the room before shoving the bible down your throat.
At least that's what I remember watching it.I must've been 15 at the time
>>64361783
Well it does indicate he's the sort of person that'd be game for making bible cartoons.
