I want to see Hiccup coming up with the idea for the Dragon Blade. In fact, more Hiccup engineering shenanigans in general would be great. I loved the shield that he had in Season 2, although that did seem to disappear without explanation. It would be great to see him piecing his armour together, seeing him gradually go from Hiccup in the first movie to Hiccup in the second, but I guess they need it to keep his image the same from film 2.

Well I might be wrong, but something tells me they'll want to keep him in the same design of armour for the TV show as the film, even if it's set before the movie. For recognisability purposes, and the fact that the animators probably don't want to keep designing multiple costumes for one character. We'll have to wait and see I guess. TV Hiccup wore the same clothes as movie Hiccup in Seasons 1 and 2.

Hiccup is cool and all, but we allready got both movies and the majority of the first two seasons about him and frankly no much new came out of it.
Meanwhile the other kids safe for Astrid did not get much to do in the second movie, perhaps even less than the first. So they could deserve some time in the series.

Well I'm a Hiccup fanboy. So I'll be happy either way. He is the main character so it's difficult to get away from him. And Season 1 and 2 did spend plenty of time with the ancillary characters, even if they weren't necessarily always evenly developed. I wouldn't mind a bit of backstory for everyone. We got some for Astrid in 'Fright of Passage', but that's about it.

I don't know shit about the books, but I feel Toothless is a bit too "perfect." He gets to be the fastest, strongest dragon, but also the cutest and most likeable. I do like Toothless, but sometimes it's a bit too much.

From a strictly statistical point of view there's a lot of areas that he's technically weaker in. The thing is that he gets by far the most screentime, and benefits from a proxy upgrade by being a main character - which makes him appear stronger and better than he actually is. Lots of the other dragons have abilities that are superior to Toothless, but we don't really get to see them in action. And the possibility of a 1v1 with Toothless is not really on the cards. He's definitely the fastest dragon, but in terms of physical strength, fire breath etc. there are others which surpass him.

It's surprising that the first movie has aged so poorly. The dragons still look good, the flying sequences look good, but a lot of the character models/textures look really rough now.
