Fuck SU. It is single-handedly tearing down what makes animation good. Shit like this is the reason we keep getting all these tumblr shows. Steven and his candy ass are ruining what makes a cartoon good. The only people who make cartoons nowadays are mouth-breathing legbeards. i'm not convinced, i don't feel like it has enough episodes or fleshed out backstory with strict rules of the magic or whatever to be able to make a story where someone won't just go "thats bullshit" two seconds in, or be completely destroyed by the show's cannon when they state a rule that you took a liberty with and it was wrong.
i think it would be alot harder to write a narrative in steven universe than something like korra, or avatar. because there are rules in that, if i say "he can fucking bend time and space" people are are like 'no, thats horseshit' but thats because that is established, if you said pearl can fucking time travel that may or may not be true because it has never been explored.
