>Hey, I want to watch this show, but I haven't seen "The Clone Wars"
That's ok. "The Clone Wars" isn't entirely important, but there are multiple characters, and other things from the show that are being carried over to this one, so it is worth your time watching.

>Is "The Clone Wars" any good?
For the most part, yes. There's a few lame episodes, but it's generally fantastic. You see Anakin as a war hero, the Clones get some much needed personality updates, the rise of Boba Fett, the return of Darth Maul, and a lot more. Attatched is a guide that showcases the highlights of the series.

>So should I follow the guide, and skip the other episodes?
Completely up to you, but I would personally recommend you don't skip any episodes, not even the Jar Jar ones. You'd be missing a lot of much needed character development, and the occasional fanservice ala' Filoni.

>I heard about the episodes being out of chronological order?
It's not necessary to do this, but you can follow this guide instead of watching it in release order: http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder

>Wait, what about Season 6?
Season 6, also referred to as "The Lost Missions", is an extra 12 episodes. Just watch them all.

>Anything else?
There's an extra 4 episodes in the form of Story Reels here, set on Utapau, and oddly ties very closely into a "Rebels" subplot: http://www.starwars.com/tv-shows/the-clone-wars-legacy

There's also a comic following Darth Maul set after the episode "The Lawless", titled "Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir" that you will wanna' check out, and a currently unreleased Novel about Ventress called "Dark Disciple".

Lastly, we've been told we're getting some "Bad Batch" news soon, meaning something to do with Captain Rex and ARC-Trooper Fives, so keep a look out for that.

Enjoy!

Something I really liked about his and Kanan's fights was the fact that they showed you they were getting more evenly matched with every fight, and that Inky saying Kanan's been improving isn't just banter.

it wasn't just repeated curbstomps with kanan using the power of friendship in the final fight to utterly reverse it, you could see him adapting with every clash. They even foreshadowed his idea of using the blaster/saber combo
>>
when does the next UK Rebels magazine come out? The Rebels comics in them aren't anything special but i've been trying to collect them when people storytime them anyway for the sake of canon.

also does anyone have blade squadron? ive read Last Call at the Zero Angle and One Thousand Levels Down here before but never saw anyone post that one
>>
>>70611416
Yes, you could see Kanan starting to get back his Jedi training. He was becoming more sure of himself and his abilities.

>that article length

>Stradley had initially planned to use the name as a practical joke on Comic Editor at Lucas Licensing Sue Rostoni, who would often put the word "Master" in front of any Jedi's name. Stradley created Bayts as an unimportant tertiary character simply to play a joke on Rostoni, but the character made it through to publication.[4]

>Perhaps due to the nature of Soon Bayts' name, references to him outside Jedi Council: Acts of War and Star Wars: Obsession have been virtually non-existent

One thing I hated about the EU (which is what Wookiepedia is bloated with) was how they'd go ahead and make intricate backstories to random characters that appear for a few seconds tops.

Like the ugly guy and his buddy who start shit with Luke in the cantina, I'd always assumed they were just your typical drunken self-styled tough guys who just liked to pretend they were master criminals/murderers when they'd probably just earned their scars from other bar fights, but surprise surprise some guy went and made a wanky backstory where one of them is an evil surgeon and they meet Luke again.

You know Quinlan Vos owes his existence to someone seeing this totally random background dude sitting on a chair in Episode I and going "THAT GUY LOOKS COOL, IMA MAKE HIM A JEDI". I think that is one of the more extreme examples of that.
>>
>>70612390
It's a hero/waifu though :^) Also the only circlejerking I did was between me and Togrutafag about whether the Mortis vision or the Rebels version of adult Ahsoka was better, not "man Star Wars would sure have been better if my favorite bad guy won" like the last thread. Oh yeah, theres a ton of comic stores that ship comics.

Try Forbidden Planet. Just know that, along with the postage/packaging, the price may be steep.

What I actually recommend instead is waiting a few months, and buying the Graphic Novel instead, much better value for money than ordering individual comics online.

It was more humorous given WHAT they created - and which then killed them all and destroyed the base. And apparently they built torture protocol droids, too, ones with a craving for tasty blood. Seems like his major flaw is that he has a habit of going straight to lethal, which is a fairly major flaw in a torturer.

At any rate there is kill and then there is overkill and yet again there is OVERKILL. With a side order of flaming droid crotch sockets. If you wanted an assassin droid you could have an astromech with a needle equipped with neurotoxin (maybe even install a little chemical factory for making it's own tailor toxins), any of the dangerous critters we've seen like the ones sent to murder Padme in AOTCs, or release clouds of micro/nano droid swarms which we know can be weaponized. Hell a mouse droid with the equivalent of a brick of C4, zip up to it's target and then ka-boom.

But noooo, this is a TARKIN Initiative so anything less than enough dakka to take out a moon is just not that interesting.

What does this have to do with the Prequels?
Don't these people have better things to talk about in terms of Star Wars, instead of just talking about something you hate. We do a better job about talking about Star Wars during our hiatuses, with all the husbando/waifu talk and trolling than they do during peak Star Wars activity.

>>
>>70616425
Someone explained why a few threads back, but on websites like Youtube, Reddit, ect, everybody is looking for people to echo their opinions, vote them up, ect. The only way to do this is to parrot the same shit over and over and over and over and over again, so even 18 years later, people talking about Star Wars on Reddit will still destroy any hope of an interesting conversation, by bringing up Jar Jar and generic prequel hate, for the sake of seeming like the most intelligent person in the room.

It's why for a lot of us, this thread is generally the best place to talk about Star Wars, because we, you know, ACTUALLY talk about Star Wars. Because we're mostly anonymous and care more about interesting discussions than trying to earn upvotes by criticizing the prequels.

If 4chan wasn't (mostly) anonymous, you would be able to spot the Redditfag a mile a way, because they would come to the thread and the first thing they would do is try to win over some popularity by talking about how great the OT is compared to the Prequels.

The Prequels had some shit moments and yes there were tons of missed opportunities, and certainly they could have been better ... and it was when TCWs came out. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the setting or characters or even the plot elements, the movies just came together as a bit of a mess.

>Youtube, Reddit
It is an echo chamber, that's why I can't stand going to Star Wars forums and haven't been going to them in years, there is too much follow the leader/cult mentality to it and you can't discuss anything with civility unless you talk about what the "Leaders" tell you to. Sheev forbid you actually want to talk about anything that has to do with the Prequels.

Anon, asking which Star Wars song is the best is so hard for me because the entire Saga has some of the best music ever made in my opinion.

Every single movie features some musical masterpieces

The Clone Wars and Rebels has had some great stuff too, despite not being John Williams.

A couple of my favorites:

Ahsoka's Theme (Season 5 Version)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkLXejhSY1M

Battle of the Heroes
www.youtube.com/watch?v=o--bLEobBFY

Ewok Celebration (Canon not-shit version)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7tMzrq43vE
>>
>>70616970
Can we assume that the "Technical" stuff about planets from the EU, such as number of moons, climate and those sort of things are still canon?
>>
>>70616997
Not 100% confirmed, but I mean, a lot of stuff about planets and vehicles and stuff is being re-canonized without any changes, so yeah, they're probably not going to change much about that stuff, as it isn't story-centric.

Only the batshit retarded EU stuff is staying non-canon really.
>>
>>70616924
>too much follow the leader/cult mentality to it and you can't discuss anything with civility unless you talk about what the "Leaders" tell you to

That's one of the reasons I like this website, despite it's own (many and varied) problems. No offense to some of our namefriends but we always did good by having the vast majority of posts anonymous. You focus on the content of the message, not who it comes from - not that it guarantees any civility or thoughtful response. It does seem to help a bit, though.

Yeah, that is good. Sure, some story EU stuff sucks that its gone but if that means that Yuuzhan vong or whatever their name is and other batshit retarded stuff is also gone - Then nice. I do wonder though if the Vong will ever be introduced in some shape.
>>
>>70616997
No. Several planets are wildly different from their Legends selves
Examples:

Ryloth isn't tidally locked
Mandalore's entire surface is a white, endless desert.

There is a new reference book coming out in September, dunno what it'll include though.
>>
>>70616997
Not really. For example Nar Shaddaa hasn't shown up despite Nal Hutta making an appearance or three.

Hell most of the species technically don't have names for the moment.
>>
>>70616864
That's a good one. I think most of my favorite Star Wars music comes from the Prequels, although I'll always love the Emperor's theme and Luke watching the sun's set.

>>70616997
It's safer not to assume anything, sorry to say, but most of the technical stuff so far seems to be what they are recanonizing. Not always, but a lot of the "fluff" details are showing up.

There's a new technical guide coming out later this year. Something like that, anyway. "Everything you need to know about Star Wars" or whatever. Part of their Journey to TFA.

Yub Nub was okay, but the newer song feels much more fitting.

I don't get why people worship the 2003 Clone Wars so much, like whenever i see Clone Wars brought up on a bunch of parts of the Net I see people go on about how much better the Genndy Clone Wars was and going on about how "kiddy" the CG Clone Wars is.

How is it better? I rewatched it recently and it was good and entertaining but beyond looking very beautiful and having impressive action pieces there's really not much substance to it. There's almost no plot until the time skip and even then Anakin is really the only character who gets much interesting characterization.

I don't know, the first season of TCW is kinda meh but at least I typically know why the fuck things are happening. The whole first half of the 2003 Clone Wars is basically a string of unrelated action scenes starring a random Jedi each time, with the throughline of Ventress chasing Anakin. The second half actually does have a story to it.
>>
>>70617761
>Gr8 b8 m8
Now you're being nostalgic if you think that TCW the movie and the first season were any better than CW.
>>
>>70617564
Fan IS short for fanatic.

They really don't compare, in my view, because they weren't meant to be the same thing. The 2003 series were shorts, meant to keep up interest in the time between movies, introduce some concepts, and maybe show off a bit since they weren't ever actually going to show the actual damn war, just the first battle and the last couple of battles. And of course introduce Grievous. It was more of an animated advertisement, but the people working on it tried not to make it cheap, and I mean cheap as in the bullshit that was the Star Wars Holiday Special. It's certainly left a lasting impression for some people.

TCWs, however, was intended and designed to flesh out the war and play a supporting role to the films by firming up and in some places plugging holes in some of it's weaker construction. It gave us some decent performances with decent character development, something the Prequels were sorely lacking for certain characters.

She stole from an Ancient Jedi temple, thus cementing that the new Aesthetic for the Old Republic was that they were all Space Samurai.

The white sabers are considered old and Rare. Ahsoka probably has the only ones left in the Galaxy, and Filoni says she uses them for this reason, as it helps people understand that's she's not an actual Jedi, as she left the order.

>Gr8 b8 m8
I'm not a big fan of the Genndywars. A lot of the supposed awesome art was incredibly stupid, like the launching of hundreds of fighters and LAATs at the same time in the opening videos.

That said, there is also a reason why the viewing guide tells people that the movie is really only important for introducing Ahsoka, which could be iffy too. /co/ took a LOT of work warming up to Ahsoka. It's amazing how well liked the character generally was by the end. I honestly think the "orange buttcheeks" thing helped around here, it's just that kind of website, but really as a character she was a lot better.

I don't know, though. The Genndywars had plenty of stupid stuff. Ghost Hand was boring and frankly felt out of place, Windu's SUPER PUNCHES and taking out an entire army single handedly was too over-the-top. And of course while yes certain people liked it Grievous was WAY too much. I think they toned him down a bit from his first appearance wiping out an entire Jedi team, including several Masters, which was ridiculous given we saw Dooku complaining about his sloppy techniques later on and disarming him. Dooku is no slouch, of course, Grievous versus multiple Masters?

Magnaguards were pretty op, too, but then they tended to be in the games too. They were definitely toned down a bit, on par with their movie version.

Honestly, I'm just loving the direction Star Wars is going now. It feels more like "Star Wars" to me than the EU ever has. I like the whole "Space Samurai Jedi and Sith" idea brought forward by Filoni with Darth Bane and Ahsoka. I like the fact that the Rebel Alliance is a lot larger that what we see in the movies. It's just all so fresh and interesting.

Not just Filoni, Lucas originally came up with the idea of the space samurai. Hell, that was the original idea for the prequels, but I guess he realized that it was too close to the OT to make sense.

I liked it. It was nice seeing snippets of Vader wandering the galaxy murdering various people. Including a Toydarian. A Toydarian who was a connection to a woman who deals in reactivating droids.

Almost certainly not Watto but hell it could be. Watto dealt with droids but let's face it he was ridiculously small time.

Loved the Indiana Jones elements, good to see people still use SBDs, and I actually liked Aphra more than I thought I would. Her excited geeking out over her work was an interesting contrast to her suddenly huddling up at the end, a very "oh shit" posture as she basically runs out of excuses for her brain to avoid focusing on the fact that she's got a notorious Imperial butcher in her ship and is unlikely to survive the encounter once he gets what he wants.

This leads to Vader's seeming out of place activity. Usually he's very take charge, right up to choking Jabba to speed "negotiations" along. Here, though, he puts up with Aphra basically tell him him whatever he's interested in will wait until she's done with her current work. And he LETS her. It does make sense if you assume he's curious about her work and wants to see her in operation before deciding she's the right person for the job, and he certainly profits from acquiring some new murder droids. And they're holdovers from Tarkin's expansive projects, so I'm sure he appreciates that in his own way.

Aphra really does seem like she's doomed, though, given what Vader is doing is so far off the books he'll murder anyone to cover his tracks - and did just that to Tagge's minion. Granted that guy was specifically and openly spying on Vader for the Empire, and plus Vader has already hired Boba Fett and a Wookiee to hunt down Luke. We know Fett at least survives and still works for Vader down the road. Still seems like the more she learns the more likely she is to receive the traditional lightsaber through the back payment for services rendered. Depends on how useful she is, I suppose.

>>
>>70618633
I do for sure. Filoni and Lucas were going to have in in TCW, but couldn't work it into the episodes and have it make sense.

But that tells us at the very least, they like Revan, and are willing to do it if it makes sense.

Plus, the character is insanely popular. Even if they didn't like KotOR they'd find a way to reference him, or make him canon (with a different story), just because it will print money.

Revan will return in some shape or form soon.

They've been trying for a while now, it's really only a matter of finding the right way to sneak him in. I suppose the most logical way would be if they explain what Ahsoka found in her exploration of ancient Jedi temples. Not a bad way to sneak in ancient Jedi/Sith, just not sure they'd want to do it.

Hell it all depends on how they use Ahsoka. Is she just using ancient tools that match her old training, or has she sought out some old truths of the Force, something the last Order had forgotten?

There'll probably be a name drop, but nothing more substantial.
Though I will be happy if the Story Group retcons TOR and just makes him a legend of the past, like Bane. Maybe they find his ancient Robes, which are pretty much the only unique looking part of KOTOR, aesthetics wise.
Him in his armour adopting the Ochs guard against a group of Jedi is the most memorable part of the game, in my opinion.
He looked like he gave nary a single fuck, and was only interrupted from handing them their asses by Malak.

Revan is the classic Old Republic Jedi turned Sith turned Jedi again - probably. Based on what they were going to use him for in Mortis he and Bane would have been manipulating the Son so almost certain Revan couldn't have gone good or at least went bad again?

Anyway given this thematic similarity to Anakin/Vader I can see no reason why they'd withhold it. It would be easier for Ahsoka to draw on Revan as a parallel to how easily or how far Jedi can fall when describing what Vader is (if not who).

This.

I love Ahsoka, but I don't want her to be some unkillable Mary Sue. She's the ex-apprentice to Darth fucking Vader, there's no way I am going to believe that she is alive during and/or after the OT.

Filoni need's to kill her, and bring me to tears. Not because I want he to die, but because it's the tragic and most fitting end to her story.

Some characters just have to die for their story to be told. Vader is one of them. I believe Ahsoka is another, and it has to happen on Rebels.

Hell, even George said he wanted her to die, before TCW ended.

Out of all of the new female characters, I wants Ahsoka and Aphra to die, because I feel like it would be best for their characters, and for the development of the characters who interact with them.

The others can live though, I don't really care about the genders of characters, just that some have to die.

I'd like to see a reverse Luke situation when she confronts Vader.
At first, he's uncertain (or at least not 100% committed) about severing what he believes to be his last tie with his former life, allowing her to escape the inevitable defeat. When they meet again, he's lost all reservations.

>Filoni need's to kill her, and bring me to tears. Not because I want he to die, but because it's the tragic and most fitting end to her story.
This, I've liked Filoni so far but if he doesn't give Ahsoka a fitting end I think I'll lose all respect for the guy.

If the plot demands it and the story need someone dying to progress, I'm all for it be it Luke, Han, Kanan or Sabine.

>Ahsoka has to die since she isn't in the OT
>there's no way I am going to believe that she is alive during and/or after the OT.

I hear this every single time someone argues for character deaths, and its completely groundless and ridiculous. The same thing about "character development." It's the laziest and most clichéd tactic in modern fiction to kill off a character as a substitute for emotional emphasis than actually taking time to flesh them out. Need I remind the supposed fans of Star Wars, that the only major protagonist "deaths" of the OT were Obi-Wan, Yoda, Anakin, and Han Solo, of which only one was killed, and all of which came back anyway.

I really don't want to argue this for the umpteenth time because I've been trying to refute these exact same arguments for the past twenty or thirty threads since Fire Across the Galaxy. Kill Ahsoka, sure, but make it meaningful, don't ape Obi-Wan's sacrifice and don't make it a guro anime.
>>
>>70619580
Ahsoka has been fleshed out though, arguably more than any character in the entire franchise.

Her story is done.

Jedi Padawan to the chosen one, lost her trust, left the Order, but then helped start the Rebellion that goes on to defeat her ex-master.

That's it. She's learned her lessons, and it looks like she's about to be passing a few of them on. But that's it, there's nothing left for her character. There's no happily ever after for her.

And I dont think any of us are trying to say it should be over the top violent for the sake of it. I want her death to be meaningful, perhaps even pivotal for the success of the Rebellion.

But anon, you DO want her to die, because you cannot fathom that the creators could possibly concoct a well written scenario in which the character survives. To you, any outcome in which Ahsoka lives, is simply not good enough for you.

>>
>>70619778
I disagree, I dont believe every character should die. But I think that some characters should, for the sake of having a tragic story, and developing the characters involved.

Ahsoka just happens to be one of these characters that I strongly believe should die to be able to tell the best story imaginable.

Besides, the move to keep her alive until Rebels is great, because if you're arguing about keeping her alive for the sake of character development, well there's a 15 year timegap for just that.

I can accept her dying, what makes me mad is the defeatist droning about it being inevitable and unavoidable. That right there is 95% of the reason the EU after ROTJ was garbage. The other 5% being Mofferences and Skippy the Jedi Droid.
>>
>>70619994
It's not inevitable or unavoidable, even Filoni has made that clear with his interpretation about Yoda's "Last of the Jedi" speech. (In fact, Filoni doesn't even consider Ahsoka a Jedi, so...)

What we're saying is that it SHOULD happen. Our opinions of course, but I sand by it.

George thought so too, if that means anything. Some characters die, plain and simple, and I believe that some great character development from Kanan and Ezra, and a great story can be told, from her death. A far more fitting one than if she survives.

Happy ending? Sure. But that implies that Ahsoka's death would be the ending. That doesnt make any sense. What does make sense is her death propels the story foward, same as the death of the entire planet of Alderaan. Star wars may have happy endings, but during the adventure, its harrowing to the core.

You're making the classic blunder.

EU writers didn't kill off characters because of inevitability, they killed them off as a cheap way of raising the stakes.

It was just

>She plays off Vader's ever-prevalent silence and she seems to be an empathetic character while still being shady.
YES! Not her, but Vader's silences were VERY well used in this issue, saying more, and better, than they could with words anyway. Especially that significant "look" his immobile mask gives when she mentions Geonosis. Often what he doesn't say is more powerful than what he does.

For her, well, she's got to be a woman after his own heart in a weird way given her love of tinkering with droids. Give this and her general adventurous nature, and apparent tendency to play more by her own rules than anyone elses... I think Aphra has the kind of personality Anakin would have loved in his own daughter.

But Vader? Yeah she'll be lucky if she survives.

About him using those codes to unlock the droid. I wonder if that was his knack with droids showing, some deft use of the Force, or if he happens to know a lot about anything that Tarkin was up to, especially the black projects.

"Your appointment with Wookieepedia should be finalized within the week. I've already discussed the matter with the editor."

"I take it he was agreeable?"

"He didn't really have a choice."

"Has he been affected?"

"Oh yes. Most certainly. When I mentioned we could put him on the priority list for the Ahsoka figurines, he was so willing it was almost pathetic."

"This new canon... the hype is intensifying to the point where we may not be able to contain it."

"Why contain it? Let it spill over the schools and theaters, let the LEGO sets pile up in the stores. In the end they'll beg us to sell them."

"I've received reports of misinformation campaigns on new media. There's not enough canon to go around, and the younger generations are starting to get desperate."

"Of course they're desperate; they can smell the sequel, and the sound they'll make clapping at the credits will serve as a warning to the rest."

"The television series?"

"Among others. But, I must admit, I've been somewhat disappointed with the performance of the primary season."

"The secondary season should be online soon. It's currently undergoing post-production and should be operational within six months. If necessary, the primary will be released on dvd and bluray."

"We've had to endure much, you and I, but soon there will be continuity again. A new waifu. The prophecy spoke of the chosen one who will bring balance to the Force, soon that canon will be real and we will be crowned its executive producers. Or, better than producers... Jedi!"

>why does everybody want every female character in the new canon to die
Who knows. I gave up trying to figure this shit out when people were complaining that only male characters died in season 1 of rebels and we needed gender equality.

I don't care about the gender of characters who die, and can't see why that's anyone's focus. I just want it to make sense storywise. And regrettably, especially since they weren't going to die originally, Aresko and Grint made sense for establishing Tarkin's cred (Tua is a civilian administrator and thus less impact on the rank and file over executing military personnel) and, though I wish it was otherwise, Inky's suicide.
>>
>>70620724
now you mention it, that does seem a bit odd. I suppose their fairly abrasive natures mean that their lack of dialogue is more indicative of them being comfortable around each other, as opposed to having nothing to say.

Most of their dialogue that wasn't in a mission has been with people they've clashed with in some way.
