BvS = 83% rotten tomatoes, in actuality 10/10 movie

Deadpool = 75% rotten tomatoes, accurate rating
Age of Apocalypse = 91% rotten tomatoes, accurate rating

Currently predicting that Deadpool will get solid 9.5's and be praised by the masses because it's going to make the "I LOVE MEMES" crowd and little kids who want to be mature ecstatic when in reality it'll be a 7 or 8/10 at absolute best.
>>

I'm hyped for the b-tier movies from each this year (Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Dr. Strange), don't care about the big ones (BvS, Civil War, Apocalypse), and I still don't think Gambit will happen so whatever.

I'm not hyped for anything beyond that, I'm sure that will change once we get closer to 2017 but there is plenty to look forward to in the immediate future.

A film featuring DCs main 3 characters should be a hit right? I mean it's almost guaranteed. Yet after viewing the various traioers and sneak peeks, people aren't. They're more hyped for a film featuring characters they barely know. It can't be a problem with the characters as people love batman, superman and wonder woman. So it must be a problem with the movie itself.

BvS has 1 character that's been in the DC cinematic universe, 3 heroes that haven't and 2 villains that haven't meaning they will have to spend a portion of the movie establishing each major character.

Meanwhile in civil war all the heroes aside from spiderman have been in at least one mcu movie. BvS is a cluster fuck of new characters and stories, Civil war isn't as it just features a lot of established characters.

For 2016 I really can't imagine BvS getting universal acclaim from critics. Critics fucking hate Zack Snyder's movies. Even if it's a great film it'll have trouble breaking 80% RT, but it's average rating probably won't be so far off Civil War.

All the Marvel movies are likely to be atleast 60%, with most above 70%.

Skwad will be the dark horse but still won't get critical love. Will have a cult fanbase.

They'll all make a ton of money.

Need more details on Shazam already. Already agitated that there's been casting rumors for every single JL member but him. I've pegged the movie as vaporware for now, alongside cyborg.
>>
>>78731471

dc lost the fight unequivocally when Marvel got back Spider-man.
>>
>>78731618
I think its more complicated than that. I think people know OF the characters but not necessarily enough to not be offended by them.

Look at that recent Wonder Woman Earth One review. Pretty much every complaint it has can be applied to the Marston run but nobody actually knows or realizes that Wonder Woman was weird as shit when she started out.
Look at the reactions to Man of Steel. People don't realize how much it pulls from books (although whether or not they did this well was up to debate) or that Superman has killed before.

People know Aquaman, sure. But what do they know? They know the Family Guy jokes about him. And, if they're especially "nerdy", they might know the DCAU or Injustice version as well.
>>
>>78731689
My friends couldn't give two shits about capeshit movies, and they know Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. They watched Age of Ultron, and they wouldn't be able to tell you anything about it. Superman and Batman are pop culture icons, people all around the world know who they are. This is what Snyder was talking about in an interview, they're not like Antman, something you see once, enjoy, and then completely forget out.

Granted, pre-MCU, I think even less would have been able to tell me about Black Widow, Ant-Man, Falcon, War Machine and most of the other characters they've used. Clearly most of America is self-aware that they know little about comics and just assume, "Oh, 'X-character', is in the movies? They must be huge in the comic book world!"

I think Civil War is locked for atleast a billion but I don't think it will overtake avengers 2. BvS is a wildcard, unless it's shit I think it's a billion as well.

Gambit not going to come out this year, if it does it's going to be rushed shit. I think deadpool will make 300-400 million tops, R movies don't do so well usually.

It measures how much people are talking about and searching for something.

Here's some psychology. When people are anonymous (like on the internet), they tend to want to talk about things they like over things they have no opinion of. They also tend to want to talk about things they don't like over things they do like.

Literally one joke spread over 2 hours. Casual "nerds" will fucking eat it up.
>BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
10/10. Better than everything Marvel has put out combined. Casuals and Marveldrones will bitch.
>CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Will be another paint by numbers MCU movie. Probably be ok but le reddit will claim it as the greatest cape film of all time.

It'll be the worst of the new trilogy but still passable. I'm gonna fucking cringe everytime Sophie Turner opens her mouth with that shitty American accent.

Probably great. People will finally stop saying Aquaman is a pussy.

Basically, Marvel continue to dominate because their movies are paint by numbers, generic, le fun that casuals eat up. DC will be better critically but people will bitch because they're not Marvel.

>"extreme biases"

Yeah, let's ignore that film failed to explain the motives of the character for his actions and reactions.
The filmmakers actually expected people to know something about Superman, which made the film aimless. And with a tone that served no purpose at the end, it made it feel heavier than what actually is.

Also:
>Watchmen, source material

Snyder glorification of violence is exactly the opposite of what Moore wrote. It was a deconstruction, a satire, a criticism. Snyder made a blockbuster.
>>
>>78739984
oni press shill pls go and stay go
>>
>>78740570
What Moore writes and what Moore claims he wrote are two very different things.

The comic glorified violence, especially that done by Rorscharc and presented Veidt as so absoluteley right that even the guy that thinks what he's doing is wrong would rather die than stop it. All insistance to the contrary is just fanfiction tier falsehood not supported by the text.
>>
>>78740570
>Yeah, let's ignore that film failed to explain the motives of the character for his actions and reactions.
His motive is to find out his origin and destiny and to help people.
The tone served the purpose of treating the character like a real sci-fi concept instead of a childish wishfulfillment joke.

>>78740570
>Snyder glorification of violence is exactly the opposite of what Moore wrote. It was a deconstruction, a satire, a criticism. Snyder made a blockbuster.
That does not make it a bad film.
The film is still very critical of the cold war and our endless cycle of killing each other for petty selfish obsessive desires.
>>
>>78740334
It has an R rating so releasing it in Winter when there is no strong competition is pretty smart. It worked for Kingsman, which was also pretty great I thought. I could see it doing as well if not a bit better than that movie honestly.

>Tim Miller's DEADPOOL
Like KICK-ASS, a film teenagers will go to see, but nothing more, no great BO, no critical acclaim. Maybe a cheaper sequel even replacing the lead actor will occur. Nothing with lasting impact.

>Zack Snyder's BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE (WB)
Man of Steel Redux: Again missing the mark of what made those heroes iconic in the first place. Decent BO, Rises-like.

>Joe & Anthony Russo's CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (MCU)
Like Winter Soldier, a film centered in a the protagonist's struggles. Focused with enough action. Age of Ultron-like BO earnings due last minute Spider-Man marketing campaign.

>Bryan Singer's X-MEN: APOCALYPSE (Fox)
Synger's film, you get what you expected: A decent setpiece, lots of exposition dialogue, focus on two characters and poor action scenes. In terms of BO, I doubt there will be any growth, domestically the franchise will continue to sink.

>David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD (WB)
A wild card. No major opinion on this whatsoever, could be good. I want to see its marketing campaign. Having said that, I fail to see this getting mainstream appeal, maybe its sequel.

>Doug Liman's GAMBIT (Fox)
I don't think this film will be ready, and even if it is, I don't see a hook for anyone besides the ones who grew up with the 90's animated series and that's a stretch. General audiences won't even know this is a comic superhero.

>Scott Derrickson's DOCTOR STRANGE
Bananadict Cucumberbatch will fail to make a RDJ-like impression, so instead this will follow the footsteps of Ant-Man. Decent BO and reception, nothing more. In creative terms I doubt this will impress me, will follow the basic Marvel formula.

And that's it for now.

Because people have always liked the exact same aspects of the characters from the 1930's until today. Care to tell us what it was that made them iconic?

How much do you get paid for being a DC Shill?

>Man of Steel Redux: Again missing the mark of what made those heroes iconic in the first place
His powers, origins, idealism is what made Superman iconic, all of that was intact in mos, the idealism was restrained to realistic standards so he is not preaching to people.
And he was forced to face realistic choices and options instead of using mary sue can solve anything and everything powers.
If a character being written with the same realistic options as any other character misses the mark of him then he is not a well written character up to that point, he is the definition of a mary sue.

Are you a fucking simpleton? Exactly what didn't the film explain about his motives or why he did certain things?

The casual audience fucking eats up everything Marvel and doesn't like movies where everything isn't what they're used to with tonnes of quips thrown in.
