>>
>>78469383
I think it has a nice simplistic artstyle.

I mean, its not amazing. But it's nice to look at.
>>
>>78469383
I can see where you're coming from, friend, however, I feel the art style is somewhat esoteric.

The simplistic style and neutral colors gives the tone of this comic something of a surreal and dreamlike tone, which really tends to support the narrative pretty well, as the first three pages seem to be focused on dreams.

I'm also looking forward to see more of this work.

No. That's what the other anon was fighting for. I was fighting for people responding to this guy: >>78466880

This is what I find absurd about poking around in the dark, assuming which anon is which.

You have nothing to go on. But people have to take the time to tell you you're an idiot, and most of them don't. So you do it a lot with no consequence. Well good for you. You cunt.

What's wrong with you guys? I was just suggesting an activity. There was nothing going on in this thread.

I didn't say you have to do it. Why is everyone here so sensitive that someone might say SOMETHING bad about a comic?

Are you guys webcomic writers or artists who don't want your work judged? Not even judged, it was just an opinion activity.
>>
>>78472106
Nah but didn't you hear?

You're me. YOU'RE ME. FROM YESTERDAY.

SHAME ON YOU, ME
>>
>>78472106
Sorry anon, there was another guy the other day who was saying pretty much the same thing, but was rather... aggressive about it.

It's not that anyone is afraid anyone is going to have something bad be said about their webcomic. Its just that that suggestion goes against the nature of what a 4chan thread is.

4chan is pretty much a sort of organized chaos. People come here and discuss things at their own pace, so when someone comes along and tries to dictate what people "should" and "shouldn't" do, it kind of rubs people the wrong way. Thats just the way 4chan operates.

>>
>>78474740
Stop with the chicken scratches. You want long, straight lines. The the whole thing in one go. You might, if you're sketching, draw several lines over the top of each other until you get a good one, or an approximation of a good one. A lot of beginners see a professional quality sketch, and make the mistake of thinking that's what they're doing when they make short little chicken scratches. Top doing that though.

Also, let now that you'e gone digitial, the most important thing is to have your left pinky finger on the ctrl key, and the left ring finger on the z. When you're inking, you might end up undoing ten bad lines for every good one. It's the magic of digital.
>>
>>78474819
Do you have anything in mind for panel 4? Because I picture Mimi exiting the stall with a smoldering crater in her wake in that panel.

This is what I've been using. http://drawabox.com/lesson/1

>>78476208
I'm a webcomic artist, what did you expect?
Some weeks are good, some aren't, it all depends on how many commissions I get.
>>
>>78475363
The sketches just act as a rough guide for the inks, they don't have to be ultra-precise.
>>
>>78476520
This. or especially for proportioning, perspective, and placement.
but that advice does fully apply to inking. a lot of artists ink too sketchily, and very few can pull it off. too often we have the instinct to do things carefully and precisely and incrementally, but inking never looks good that way. so it's important to remember.

Think of it like how horror movies like to think about halloween. "The wall between the spirit and human realm is thinned" and all that. I should clarify, her portal doesn't connect to hell. I should also clarify, she is a monster all the time, she just doesn't have massive amounts of tentacles coming from her mid section all the time. Just one named Charles that's nice. The not nice tentacles usually carry spatulas.
>>
>>78477362
I'd like to see her cooking something.
>>
>>78477362
Actually now that you mention it I wasn't quite clear on whether there was supposed to be several tentacles coming out of the stall up in >>78476677 or just one tentacle wriggling all over (like, maybe Charles was using a spatula/fly swatter to help her smack some unseen thing that was trying to escape) - and if there were several tentacles, I wasn't sure if they were different creatures or just more parts of Charles. Maybe make the different tentacles look different to make sure there's no way to make that mistake?

>>78477429
Calamari. Sometimes you gotta teach those tentacles who's boss.
>>
>>78477456
There will be a color difference between these other tentacles and Charles. Maybe I'll give Charles a dapper little hat just to be sure and these guys will be different colors.

You forget, anon. Most of the demographic here is 18-35, and for the most part the people who go to this thread are likely art students of one degree or another. So of course they are taught that Michelangelo is one of the classical greats.

Your paradigm here is likely more fitting in the company of art professors and historians. While I agree no one is immune to scrutiny, be aware of your audience.
>>
>>78479214
You can't really approach a historical artist without an understanding of their context, anon - even though they're kinda silly from a modern perspective, criticizing Michelangelo for his female anatomy is like criticizing Hokusai for not using a tablet.
>>
>>78479325
Idk man, when I went to art school and we spoke about him we laughed at the man boobs. I mean, it was illegal to have female nude models or something but like, damn, did he never see a woman before? Dude had to know he messed up.
>>
>>78479369
Haha, I'll give you that, and I'll have to admit everything after the Greeks in Art History bored me, so I didn't pay much attention.

But also don't forget Da Vinci and Michelangelo were alive at the same time, so even though Da Vinci brought a greater understanding of anatomy to the world, it was still a fledgling thing.

Then again, I'm the one who slept through half of Art History, so I could be wrong on some things.
>>
>>78479469
Not to mention, what DaVinchi was doing was illegal (I think). So his knowledge wasn't wide spread by any means.

Forgot to give context to this.
For example, look at these cave paintings.
Jeez, don't these guys known how to draw woman?
I mean come on.
My point here being that there was not much of a pretext to "properly" drawing a woman. At least not to my knowledge.

>>78479494
Da Vinci did a ton of illegal things. Thats what makes him all the more bad ass.
>>
Used to make comics during class in high school. Silly comedy comic about three dumb ducks that work in an office. Shame that I lost these short comics when I moved out of my moms house.

Either way, I have a ton of comic idea's and worked out... in my head not on paper. There are two idea's that I really want to work out on paper, both are pretty deppresive with psychological themes.

In short, the first idea is about a retired hit man who lost both his wife and daughter. He can't accept the fact that his wife and daughter are both dead what leads to him becoming mentally unstable. He supresses the fact that his family died and starts seeing them. His wife tells him to kill the ones that made her and their daughter suffer. So the mercenary dusts off his gear and the game of vengeance begins. But his mental health falls further to the point it's not just about vengeance or profession anymore but madness.

The second idea I really need to work out on paper first to make it explainable. But I think it's rather novel material than comic material due the heavy subjects.
>>
>>78479516
If you can't tell that its a woman, you didn't draw a woman right. Unless the artist has a different intention of course.
>>
>>78479325

You don't really have to know about him personally. He seems to think that a white supremacist learning about other cultures will make him not racist magically.
>>
>>78480292
Please illuminate me, this is news to me.
>>
>>78480317
That was one of his most popular comics. It was everywhere. A white supremacist goes on vacation to other countries and learns about the cultures and then he's not racist anymore. I can't speak for everyone but considering the racism in my family was only made worse by spending time with people not of our race, I can't agree with how he seems to think that will work.
>>
>>78480380
He's got a point that racism stems from ignorance.

Sorry your family's a bunch of cunts though.
>>
>>78480292
>>78480380

Oh wait, are you talking about the one comic with the guy who's a klansman, travels the world, learns about their cultures and comes back a changed person?

I think you misunderstand the point of the comic. The character is a representation of a close-minded person (case in point, a white supremacist)
It is only after the man travels the world and comes to LEARN about different cultures that he understands the value in them all, and learns to broaden his horizons.
The white supremacist is representative of a close-minded person.

I'm guessing I'm bound to get a lot of shit for defending what is apparently a controversial comic. I honestly thought the point of the comic was clear enough.
>>
>>78480489
It stems from ignorance AS WELL AS life experience ie. bad experiences with a people of a certain race. My family, myself included, has had constant bad experiences with a certain group of people and while I try to put my experiences behind me, my family holds grudges.
>>
>>78480529
If you think close minded people are so easy to change their opinion, even with education, you have a brand of optimism I wish I could duplicate and sell.
