If it's it what I think it is, by now I rather give him the silent treatment. He hasn't done anything worth of my attention, and I'm not talking as an artist, but as a person, so I think it's not worth spending a single second on him.

If it's not that, please do tell.

I'm happy with how this came out. Thinking out even a simple mermaid's song was hard as hell, though. Will probably not have the next page finished by this week because of Christmas vacation, but hey what can you do

Anyhow, anybody doing some comic related thing for the celebration of our lord and savior's birthday? It's too late for me to make a page, but I was thinking an illustration would be nice; Miss Melee's was great

I made both normal and monster frame, with some extras like the dress and hair separately, and then added stuff in between. I admit not planning that long, but with the stuff I made, I think I can polish it a bit more.
I need to remember how to use the parent/child stuff to make the movement more smooth instead of manually switching and panning the frames.

I'll post an update once I get on with it.

I don't know why it's taking me so long to think of a Christmas themed drawing for Little Bot.

I don't really understand how the vest is supposed to work with an open back like that. It looks like it would be impossible to have it follow her bust and waist so closely.

Also, even though you say you're done revising her outfit, two things I'd experiment with;
A, pants that go all the way up to the waist
B, giving her rolled-up sleeves rather than short sleeves.

yeah that already looks better
but look at how the older eyes were: they were smaller and thus further apart. you wanna have a decent amount of space in between them. eyes aren't glasses, after all. I gotta say it's nice to see one of these creepy supernatural abomination girl characters who's absolutely harmless.
The archetype tends to come off deeply unsympathetic to me, because their punchlines end up with someone being horribly murdered or something.
>>

I wouldnt say Mimi is totally harmless, but she also doesnt see her "quirks" as anything abnormal. She does eat someone but she throws them up later and they are (mostly) fine. Besides that she never hurts anyone on purpose.

Easy introduction of my project called "Social monster". Social monster is about a boy that is anti-social, who is living in a poor part of town. The boy found himself a little monster that is eating a squirrel and The monster was preparing to attack him next.
But, He was stopped by food Poisoning from that dirty dead squirrel. Before he died and turn to ashes, he cursed the boy by giving him a very valuable weapon and a mark that only seem by him and the monsters. Get it? Now, He got social issues with his friends and brothers and a beautiful girl.

>>
>>78343857
Aww man, thanks a lot.
I'll admit the idea of doing this as a profession rather than a hobby IS very appealing; then I probably allow myself to make my chapters longer and less compressed, posting several pages a week... BUT as it stands I'm just satisfied with how the comic's come out so far, plus now that I've finally got the ball rolling I can't exactly stop...
>>
>>78344187
all i know is the professionals are people who are way more comfortable than I am with wasting- er, spending huge amounts of time on stuff that won't even be in the final product
8 times out of 10 if i do a sketch to work out a tough design for a new character, it is getting pasted into the comic verbatim. aaand 9 times out of 10 that will be the best shot of that character by far.. ugh.

It's like Cleese sez up in the OP - your first idea is rarely your best idea.
"kill your darlings" is common writing advice for a reason - nobody likes it but it's always a good idea.

>>78344187
I think the compressed style is working pretty well for you, honestly. One of the big pitfalls of webcomics is that there's no editor to tell you to cut all the extraneous stuff and get the damn plot moving already (says the guy who's already spent like two years on his first chapter).

Anyway, in this next exciting installment, our side character that nobody cares about heroically runs away like a scaredy cat. Nothing's quite finished yet, but I'm already pretty happy with how the mist in panel 2 is turning out.

Probably won't have time to do anything special for Christmas ( 2 days oh god I haven't even bought any presents yet aaaaaaaaaah), but I'll try to have something around jan 12th for the pagan Yule celebration.
>>
>>78345070
Wouldn't the shop keeper have to be in the first panel though? I don't see how he would fit into the panel with the doll unless he was the one to show her. That could work too I guess and she would end up creeping out the creep. That would change the first panel to though. I guess she would enter and he'd say something like YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'D LIKE SOME DOLL and then he shoves one in her face.
>>
>>78345152
It would be a case of "this girl looks innocent and naive, I can pawn this cursed evil doll off on her" but it's Mimi.
>>

That can work. I'll retool the thumbs in a minute. Thank you! Now to see if I NC an fit it in 6 panels or less.

Fucking behind on things. I damn my client to hell, I can tell already that bitch isn't paying. Needed that cash. Anyway, here's a bit of preview for the little holiday zine we're doing. I need to finish the damn first draft of the story; and the artist's comp had issues yesterday.

When it rains it snows. But lil'Erin and B are cute in how innocent they are. Last update got us some new followers; so I'm happy. Someone who liked it rando-added me on Skype to tell me; which also brightened my day.

How've you folks been?

>>78335456
Digging the lighting here. It isn't very bold a move, but it is really effective and I like how things have been looking from you lately. How you been man?

>>78336017
I like it. But like someone said last thread "decades" implies aged. Mostly because people don't tend to think in decades until they've had a lot. If she's in her 30s/40s, maybe saying "I've been fighting since I was a child" could get the same point across without sounding too aged.

Wish you were further in so I could give it some further thought. It has potential so far.

>>78336138
I think it'll be nicer when we get to Hook, who really is well-designed if this is the project I think it is. I'll admit I haven't really looked back into it since they had the first 6 or 10 pages up.

Has anyone had any experience with or looked into creator owned publishers for webcomics such as Hiveworks?
Sounds like a good opportunity when they open submissions assuming you're accpted but I know there has to be some sort of downside to it.

"hows your webcomic?"

I just now deleted my TRUE SAGA webcoimic and its main website on blogspot which I then added everything i deleted to the main website of my FATES project since i merged the two projects together.

I will upload all the pages i just deleted off TRUE SAGA to my FATES webcomic!

final stats for TRUE SAGA: up for about a year, 5 subscribers, 4000+ pageviews, about 50 pages, 50+ comments

the main website only had 4000+ pageviews

top webcomics rating high score- rank 180, ending rank 2142

it will be missed as a stand alone story but will still be worked on through and as FATES, you'll see!

pic related is the newly remade banner for FATES

>>78335373

>>78335420

>im not worth a single second of your time

fucking ouch, my heart... im a person with feelings you know?

ive never done anything ever but defend my self, i never say shit about anybody or there comics to get the level of hate i get towards me for no reason, wtf?

>>78335487
>>78335531

what is yalls problem with me? i dont get it, ive never said anything to either of you

the only thing i can even remotely think of that might offend people that i do is draw girls with big boobs, but both of you guys also draw girls with big boobs, so that cant be it, so there is literally no reason for yall to be acting like this towards me

i dont fucking get it man, its really disheartening and disappointing desu

Man, I sure hope so. I ended up having to get a bit experimental with the pacing to have this final bit work properly, so it might just end up an incomprehensible mess. I think it works in my head and my script, but there's still time to mess everything up on the page.

Hello, comic friends. I'm in the holiday mood. By that I mean I fucked up on my finals big time and now I'm slightly buzzed and ready to draw. >>
>>78349132
That would be pretty cool but some of the comics in this thread have a TON of characters. Maybe just MCs?
>>
>>78349054
Yup. That'd be the case.
Not a ton of little kid stuff happens. Like, even though they pretty much got abandoned by their parents it was when Erin was in college, Beatrice was in HS and Jam...never really factored into it from our logical standpoint.

If the parents left 8-9 years before the start, Jam would've been six, Beatrice would've been in her mid teens, and Erin would've been in the thick of college.

Blegh logic. Older drafts had Handsome Dan acting as more of a threat due to how fucked up their family life is and mandated reporter duties to Child Protective Services; but actually doing social work really helped bring out how that system even works.

So in terms of parental conditioning, Erin got a ton. Beatrice got some. Jam got very damn little.

It's sort of an underdeveloped plotline that will gain some meat down the road. Erin's mentioned the whole thing before on some level.

I'm rambling. Too much eggnog and stress.

It takes effort to pursue working in webcomics, it is an uphill battle and there are often little to no allies on your side. It requires tedious and often thankless work, oftentimes taking up to 8 or more hours a day.

However it takes no effort whatsoever to poke fun and discourage webcomic artists on their way to success, this is the kind of person who does not understand the hard work it takes to pursue one's dreams. It is easier instead to try to bring them down to their level.

Pity him, for he is sad inside.

FFXII is a mash up of several cultures, what I imagine you'd call Mediterranean, (Turkey, Istanbul/ Constantinople) looking at the architecture, I'd say Medieval Era. However, the game itself is full of Sanskrit influences, as well as an overall tone of Arabic descent (kind of, its very broad.)

Serious question:

Is 4chan a good audience?

I'd like to set up "pretending to be a fan" threads of my work on /co/, just so I can get the most honest opinions and the least sycophantic praising. Much akin to that of Justin Roiland of "Rick and Morty" fame.

However, I'm also considering turning myself into trollbait. Thinking about making a white female/black male relationship, not because I want to, but so I can have guaranteed views and traffic from all the insecure racists of /tv/ and /r9k/. I can deal with "teh author is a KEK kek" frogposters if it means free advertising from hundreds of lonely people.

Just look at Andrew Dobson. He's a terrible artist, but most of those who visit his website only come because they always see the threads on 4chan. It's definitely how I learned about him.

I learned a while ago that there are artists that say they're younger than they are to gather more attention to their work. There was a dad that painted a bunch of shit using a fake hand and video taped it saying "Look at my son's fingerpainting, it's so good."

Another artist I know personally put up a charade that they were a 16 year old girl when they were in fact a 29 year old neckbeard because it suited his art style and made him feel better about his work.

Don't believe everything you see on the internet. Drawing takes years of practice, whether you're 17 and started at 10 or 27 and started at 20.

My advice is no, anon.
4chan is eeeehhh.... a questionable audience, but a good one. Sometimes.

In my opinion, take 4chan's criticism with a grain of salt. Most of 4chan's userbase is 18-35 year old cynics. These guys critique even well received works and well known comics and cartoons. Your work is no different to them, only its an unpublished, single person work, making it a much easier target to criticize.

Do NOT "pretend to be a fan," especially on 4chan. Some users even have enough computer know-how to read which IPs your posts are coming from, so they will know when you're samefagging. And when they find that out, they will come down on you like the force of a thousand suns.

As for the intentional trollbaiting, this sounds like a really bad way of getting a lot of negative attention, and comes off as rather desperate. Bad publicity is still publicity, yes, but that is the tactics of a truly desperate person, and I know you haven't yet fallen so low.

What you DO need, is some confidence in your work. The only way to avoid criticism is to never do anything. And I guarantee you that will never feel fulfilled if you are too paralyzed with fear of being judged. Don't draw to pander to a certain audience, draw for you.

This is YOUR story, not theirs, they don't choose how it goes. And if it sucks, well it sucks, but at least you went out and did, unlike so many of your cynical critics.
Any person who truly possesses skill will know the hard road it took to get them there, and the ones that are worth their salt want to see others succeed.

Also anon, Dobson is not exactly the greatest role model.
>>
>>78353429
Of course not. I also have friends that did a lot of the art for a popular indie game when they were 15 and 16, and both of them had been drawing since they were little. The one thing that's always the same is that they studied.

2/2-see how easy it was to tie into my TRUE SAGA project? now its all just FATES now, so easy i should of done this a long time ago!

having second thoughts/cold feet about combining DEMON JUICE and HAIR SOLE toghether, they already mention and reference each other in comic AND HAIR AND SOLE is literally a spin off of demon juice and takes place right after everything that happens in chapter 2 of demon juice... but....

there fucken there both super popular mega property already and work amazing as stand alone stories, getting me hundreds of thousands of pageviews, non of which is monetized cuz i dont know how ads work, and tons upon tons of fan art and reviews and shit

I really should combine them though because its for the better, it will improve the quality and current length, and combine the fanbase of each one, so i really should.... but i dont know, its a real fucken coin toss yall

meanwhile no one gave a shit about TRUE SAGA and FATES except for me, but im the artist/creator so i dont fucken count ya know?

what do you mean how it was done?
>>
>>78353199
I don't think it is. Granted, you can find people here that legitimately likes your work, sure, but I don't think you should focus on getting you audience here.
The things you considered are bad ideas and as I read, people told you why. It's useless.

This is me, but only reason to share my work in here is because I know no one gives a damn about me, and that's the kind of people who usually gives you a better unbiased feedback.

You also may get shit from time to time, but if you focus on making a terribly PR stunt like you're saying, shit will be the rule rather than the exception.

It's better to find an audience where you know people would take interest in it.

Smackjeeves is a good place for Yaoi/bl; Pokemon fanfics and Sprite comics.

You can be successful there doing something else, but eh, you'll have more chances of finding that kinda audience. Which my explain why my own work took a big momentum of readership when I started it.

Long story short; bad publicity stunts can only take you so far and Dobson is a starving fatso who should be held as the pinnacle of failure.

You're better off selling ice on the North Pole.
>>
>>78353820
Simple styles reflect simpler themes, a sort of light-hearted nature and playfulness. They work great for children's books, and "cutesy" work.

In the case of "Pictures for Sad Children," the artist used the style ironically to deliver punishing doses of reality, set to the tone of idyllic childish imagery, to make the blow all the more brutal.

So I guess if your looking for a nice simplistic style, be practical in applying your shapes, they should be streamlined (not scratchy) and simple. Check out some Minimalism art. Don't use much detail, just be sure the key ingredients are there. Face shape, eyes, mouth, nose (which could be optional depending on how simplistic you want to get)

Good luck, anon.
>>
>>78353933
in this case i dont think the simplicity is in any way childish or playful, it's more like ... stark. blank, as if meaningless. especially in the early arc where the guy is just a ghost and he looks like a pac-man ghost.. and all the other people are basically just pegs. aside from having arms and legs they were basically the same thing, so it's like his life didn't change at all.

>>
>>78353991

>>78354005
Personally, I've never tried going for a super simplistic style before. I'm guessing you're talking digitally, but my advice remains the same.

-Check out minimalism
-Simple shapes
-No details

It's not so much HOW you draw it, but rather HOW MUCH you draw.
>>
>>78354005
oh that's what you meant about being more interested in the linework
it looks to me like either a normal pen on paper or digitally using a fixed-width line, yes. possibly both depending on when he did it.
and yeah that's a good way to go for simplicity. no need for varying line widths in something like this.
>>
>>78354258
>>78354288
Lack of tablet is killing me. I would've started long ago if not for that.
It's not really just an excuse. I need to find a way to keep lines looking somewhat dynamic and simple.

Only way I thought around it was scanning my drawings and then vectorize them. I'll give it a try once I get my scanner out of storage.
>>
>>78350600
ayyy i'll try that and see maybe post the result, doesn't sound very clasy at least
>>
>>78354340
yeah there's nothing wrong with scanned drawings, you can do all KINDS of stuff to them. multiply the layer til it looks clean, use 'threshhold' to make it binary, do some cleanemups.. it's all good

There's a lot to be gained from learning to draw and design without relying on references, and saying otherwise is lying. Study from reference, draw from your mind. I personally think that's much better than the alternative of being unable to draw something if I don't have a perfect reference for it.

but alot of those artists listed, used references for one of their most well known and popular pieces. And no one calls them out as "fake rip off" artists

So is referencing ethical in using it for professional work? Because you can bet your ass that Norman Rockwell did this.

I see a lot of artists getting hate when they post personal art based on a reference. But it's their art that they aren't using for any monetary gain. Just some doodle or piece to post on their art tumblrs. Is that really that bad of a thing to do?

I don't think so.

let's put it this way, you can't do someone's portrait without using a reference.. but you'll have a difficult time trademarking anything you DID use one on

What's to think?

Of course people should use references. It's retarded not to.
>>
>>78354899
If you're talking about whether it's bad or not to draw/paint something with reference, of course it's not.

That said, there are a lot more idiots that will call you out for "cheating" than there were when there wasn't internet. I agree that most if not all the masters painted from life and reference, but a lot of their more famous paintings gained popularity first because of technical ability among other artists or people that respect art and then among less studied people. Art wasn't always a wide-spread, widely appreciated field. It had an elitism to it that didn't go away until within the last century or so.

i don't disagree with that.

But if an artist used a stock photo that's royalty free for reference, is that a bad thing?

If they made strides to do both original poses and referenced poses, should they be hated because they used references?

That's the issue here. A lot of those artists in the pic used references, but I'd like to believe they would be talented enough that they could ALSO draw from memory.
>>
>>78354967
not to mention unless youre one of those really brilliant people with a hidden talent that comes off as skill, you can't just look at a photo and suddenly paint it with photorealistic shading. it's too complicated for our eyes to follow easily. they literally physically can't discern subtle gradients
>>
>>78354992
best not fix it, then
>>78354996
i've done pictures where i referenced one and freehanded the other.. it wasn't pretty how badly they clashed. but my experiences don't mean it isn't possible to succeed at that
>>
>>78355003
mm, that's not really true. Artists do have an ability to pick out colors that other people can't discern a difference between. There are a couple tests online to show this.

>>
>>78354744
I, for one, am the kind of guy who would DIE if I couldn't use reference.

One day, I'll be good enough. One day....
>>
>>78355059
that's different though, you have the benefit of the little squares. (I remember that, I scored pretty high)
I'm talking about when you look at a person's face, you don't discern 100 little shades of beige (or brown if youre a damn dirty pigmented person or some other color if you're something else or whatever) in the gradient, you just see it flat and your brain works out the shapes if you're good at paying attention to that.. but only a rare talent can actually copy that shit. some people do it tiny shape by tiny shape, eyedropping each one, to make those perfect photorealistic 'vectors'.. others just get good enough at shading to recreate the real look by simply combining knowledge-of-shape to knowledge-of-lighting and simulating what real life was already doing, getting the predicted result..

Like here, I got a 4. They used to show the average for your age group, but stopped after people started hacking in false results.

>>78355165
I still don't think that's true. It just takes effort to determine what color you're looking at. You're fighting against a natural process. For example, I'm sitting in a dimly lit room right now with a single lamp a distance away. The "white" wall next to me is a shade of brown orange, and the "light" wood that's covered in shadow would be a desaturated green, possibly a more desaturated brown.

You'd still want to pick colors that work for the canvas over what's "real". An artist should take liberties with the colors around them to make them more appealing. That's an advantage that artists have over a camera.
>>
>>78355165
forgot to finish that thought. it's late you know
but almost nobody can use a reference for a gradient directly. like, directly in the copy-a-shape sense. in the A-to-B-to-C way you do it with a reference. Our eyes simply don't discern color that distinctly when it's right next to other color. Nobody has 'perfect pitch' as it were, for color, we all transpose. If we didn't, those optical illusions wouldn't work. Like the ones where there's the same color gray against black and against white and it looks totally different
>>78355219
yeah I mean there are things you can do, but there are physical limits. We aren't mantis shrimp. it'll never be as direct as copying the shape of a line.
Maybe if instead of an alphabet we used shades of color, we'd be able to, as our brains would adapt.. but I reckon it's a hardware limitation, in the same way that a dog can smell something and pick up 170 different compounds distinctly, whereas we can only detect a melange. our nasal nerves don't have the bandwidth or the sensor sensitivity, and our brain can't remotely cache that shit properly.

Really? I personally don't think there's that much value in "re-skinning" an existing story. I preffer that she's taking more inspiration from Scandinavian folklore while the Peter-pan aspect is rather secondary.

>>78344599
Yeah, that's the thing. When it your full time job you can afford to spend tons of time trying different designs until you find THE one (although in the case of big motion pictures, I tend to preffer the concepts since the final designs are always standardised and made "safer" to appeal to the mass audience). These threads help get a bunch of people's opinion on designs fairly quickly though, that's something I love about them.

>One of the big pitfalls of webcomics is that there's no editor to tell you to cut all the extraneous stuff and get the damn plot moving already

Yeah, I've heard that a lot, particulalry in Paranatural and Homestuck threads. As it stands I preffer compressing since it assures that each page significantly advances the chapter
It looks like your story is heading for an interesting twist BTW; I think you worry about it too much.

I've never seen anyone ever complain about artists _using_ reference. People only complain when artists are blatantly copying references. Most artists who whine about others saying they are cheaters don't seem to know that there's a difference. Obviously if you are an illustrator, like many of those artists in that compilation and you take your own photos of models, you can copy them all you want, but there are so many artists nowadays who just take copyrighted photos or images of other artists and just shamelessly copy it and then call it their own work.
>>
>>78357691
A lot of famous art pieces were done with photos that were popular at the time, or were in papers. Copyright just wasn't as big an issue at the time.

People's morals are changing so what's "right" and "wrong" is getting twisted. If you use reference and people can tell what the reference source was, you'll get bitched at for it. If you use reference to study, post your study, and say "this was a study," non-artists will still give you shit for it. I know I've gotten a lot of pants-on-head retarded comments from people on stuff where I blatantly say "This was drawn as a study of the photo linked here." People are just fucking stupid sometimes, there's no way around that.
>>
>>78357755
> If you use reference to study, post your study, and say "this was a study," non-artists will still give you shit for it.

Well, that has never happened to me nor have I ever seen it happen to anyone else, so I guess you're just unlucky. If anything, I've noticed the opposite. What tends to impress non-artists the most are photorealistic photocopies of popculture stuff, celebrities etc.
>>
>>78358696
Look more. It happens to popular artists all the time, especially in the articles and posts you're talking about. Just take a lovely stroll through the comments and you'll find some idiot that goes "They just copied this photo" and someone else going "Wow, they're just copying someone else's work. I bet they didn't even give credit to the photographer" etc. etc.

People suck. It's not just me it's happened to. Ilya Kushinov had it happen, early Sakimi-chan had it happen, there was an article about an artist that did "photo-realistic" pictures of celebrities that exploded so badly the artist had to come out and apologize that the online article that featured their work didn't give the photographs credit. It's just arbitrary bullshit, and it sucks.
>>
>>78359052
>Just take a lovely stroll through the comments and you'll find some idiot that goes "They just copied this photo"

Yeah and for every one of those posts, there are a few hundred posts going "WOW, this is SO realistic! You are the bestest ever!" So what the fuck are you whining about? That every so often you stumble upon a person with a semblance of taste that doesn't join in on the circle jerk around hack artists posting photocopies of Walter White on facebook?

Ilya Kushinov DID blatantly copy photos, anime screenshots and work of other artists and claimed it as his own personal work. Only after he got called out on it did he start calling his copies "studies". People who do that stuff deserve to be called out on it and that will never change, deal with it. You might as well ask /co/ to stop ridiculing Greg Land.

These were supposed to be daily, oops.

A very tall beauty from the northern lands, Kaisa is not only popular among her peers and a good student, but also a quite skilled, versatile fighter, second in her school only to Keira. If anything, you could say she's almost too perfect.

A few notes - 6' 0'' is supposed to be very tall for a girl in the setting, so don't use your Scandinavian/Californian standards to compare how she appears among her peers. Another note needs to be made on the abysmally bad profile shot. I would gladly erase it, but it needs to be there for the sake of completion and the whole picture already took over 4 hours to finish. Hopefully I will eventually figure out how to draw this shit better. The last note is yep, both poses are from references /s/ is quite useful for this. Especially the left one would never end up this decent otherwise.

>there's no denying that using a reference INSTEAD of learning how to draw from your imagination is.. limiting and limited
You can't learn to draw from your imagination unless you already have an accurate view of things in your head. You can "imagine" the most epic steampunk pirate ship all you want but if you try to draw one without knowing the ins and outs of what a ship looks like it's going to look childish and naive. That's when you dig out reference pictures for ships, cannons, pirate apparel, all the junk. Use you imagination to modify and apply what you learn from the reference pictures, don't try to "learn" drawing from your imagination.
>>
>>78353199
Any audience can be a good audience, but I'd never appeal directly to 4chan. While setting up a pretending to be a fan thread could get you more honest opinions (and let's be honest, they will likely also be very brief opinions), you probably won't find too much sycophantic praising in this thread. There might be some hugboxing, but things aren't that dire.

If you're going out of your way to stir up "controversy" and trollbait as a way to get popular, I'd argue you lack some degree of integrity. Your work ought to be able to stand on its own and have its own value. Appealing to the lowest common denominator isn't a great way to have your work judged, and even so it isn't like the remix culture of these boards won't see your stuff fucked up so much that people won't even believe you made it. Assuming it catches on at all.

Dobson is a terrible artist, most of the people who look at his stuff do so because they dislike him. They want to watch him struggle and suffer.

Trying to enter that role, willingly; is sort of like being the kid who eats bugs because people will watch. Sure you might be "popular", but you aren't popular.

There's enough shit out there, anon. This platform is oversaturated in it. You should strive to put out something of worth and hope for the best.
>>
>>78359870
I learned the hard way myself, but IIRC there's a bunch of tutorials on Youtube. Try searching for the specific brand and make of your tablet - I know wacom at least have some starters' tutorials up.

Failing that, try to see if you can find some step-by-step tutorials on established artists' processes.

You know there's a huge difference between referencing and just straight up copying, right? If you're just copying your "reference" picture's you're not even an artist, any monkey can do that.

If you're worried about accidentally copying just get reperence pictures that have dirrerent point of views than what you want to draw. Wanna draw a 3/4 view of a fighter yet? Get one ref pic from above, one from the side and one from the front. If you're a halfway decent artist with any perspective skills you now have all the information to draw that 3/4 view jet with zero copying involved but everything will actually be accurate.

She goes on to discover that, for some reason that is never given, every human on Earth has disappeared and she has to learn to fend for herself.
She manages to survive for a few years, coping with several brushes with death (thinking of an hero-ing, rabid animals, collapsing buildings) until one day she crashes the car she commandeered and breaks both her legs. Unable to get to the boot of the car to get food, she starves to death.
