So just saw TFA for a second time today and picked up on somethings I missed the first time around. All relating to Rey. Just going to come out and say it. I think she is the only apprentice of Luke's to survive the second Jedi Purge. Here are the things that I picked up on that made me think this.
Start of the movie when she asked BB8 where it was from and it tells her it is classified she replies with.

When Maz Kanata is telling her about the force

>Rey replies "With Luke."
Also in her force version you can hear Obi Wan calling out her name. The full implications of this are not known yet but I wanted to throw it in there anyways
Then at the ending when see meets Luke and they just stare at each other you can tell Luke is starting to tear up. I believe he is tearing up cause she found her way back to him
The biggest evidence for this comes from when Kylo was reading her mind and said this

At the end of the movie you see Luke on a island surrounded by an ocean
I think Luke blocked off her memories to suppress her force powers and left her on Jakku to protect her from the First Order.

Because I always heard the same "they are not sith poorly trained in the dark side" but every depiction of acolytes (and now inquisitors) use the very same powers than the sith and fight Jedi on equal ground.

The Jedi that betrayed Luke wasn't Kylo Ren but instead was Rey's brother.
Luke was so personally ashamed that his own legacy would turn against him, he went into hiding vowing to never train another student. They are only taught the basics of lightsaber combat. They have to use their spin sabers to even gain the upper hand at all against most force users.

Does anyone else feel like they're just going to go back to the EU being their headcanon? I just have a feeling that once all the mystery of the new trilogy goes away and we are stuck with 'oh I guess Luke fucked up, Han and Leia fucked up, the Rebels fucked up, everyone fucked up, the OT was kind of pointless because none of the goals the characters had were met' along with one of those movies being a rehash of ANH and another being made by the guy who made the new Jurassic Park the EU (minus the Vong) will look much better. Plus something about the new canon just doesn't feel legitimate to me. The EU felt legitimate because when you had magazines say 'Did you know' sections about Star Wars characters it all said shit about the EU. I just can't imagine a 'Did you know' mentioning things from the new canon. Plus nobody is even reading the new canon shit (at least not as many people as there was for the EU), the new games are all shit (and made by EA for TEN YEARS), and we're going to get a movie every single year (meaning Star Wars will die soon since everyone will be tired to death of it similar to the Marvel movies after they do Infinity Gauntlet, also with already terrible choices being made like an Han Solo movie made by the guys who made Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street).
I really want to like the new canon but I feel like in the long run I'll just see myself picking and choosing good things from the EU as my headcanon.

It sits at about an 8, it's so far having the positive effect of the more I think about it the more I like it. I want to see it again to reaffirm if I really did hate Finn as much as I did or if I was being too hard on him for being the funny character. I watched it again last night.
The Ewoks really weigh the movie down, dude. The Jabba's Palace scene is excellent, the speeder bike chase is riveting, but as soon as Leia meets Wicket, the movie grinds to a halt. Everything has to be put on hold so we can see these teddy bears and their pointless worshipping of C-3PO and capture of everyone, which goes nowhere. The Emperor/Vader/Luke scenes are top notch and the attack on the Death Star is fun but everything on Endor aside from the speeder bike chase makes me want to fast forward.

Fuck off with that excuse. The stormtroopers jobbing to the fucking Ewoks was terrible. Just because it's a "kid's movie" doesn't mean it should get a pass for dumb shit, especially when it completely clashes with the tone set by the previous two movies.
What's next, defending Jar Jar?
So in TFA the reason why the Resistance didn't just evacuate their base before the First Order could shoot was why? They didn't have the Republic fleet to support them, sure, but did that mean they actually needed to call up the Hosnian System on the space phone and order a bus? Like the Resistance doesn't bother to maintain it's own transport ships?
The whole concept of needing the Republic fleet was kind of stupid. As a deterrent, sure, a threat to keep the First Order from directly attacking the Republic but surely the Resistance would maintain it's own ships. Basically like how Bail Organa was supplying Phoenix Squadron with blockade runners. You don't use your own ships because then you get in trouble, so you supply the rebellion/resistance with ships and claim you don't know how they got them. Plausible deniability and all that. The first time the Republic used it's fleet to directly support the Resistance surely they'd be in a big ass war with the First Order, which seemed to be something both sides were avoiding (at least the First Order was delaying until their super weapon was complete).
The thing is a better excuse would be if the Resistance Base was in a populated solar system that they couldn't evacuate. In the old days of thirty years ago the Rebellion used uninhabited worlds but now the First Order can wipe out entire systems, so the Resistance was in a "we stop the First Order or we die trying" mindset.
