Fuck you Comedy Central.
>>
Shit looks like its getting cancelled soon Damn, one of the best art styles for a western animated series in years.
>>
>>77868028
It's kind of a shame, the art style is gorgeous and it IS pretty funny, but I feel like it being 100% random comedy with a cast that has a pretty repetitive dynamic kinda ruins it.

All of the characters are decent enough, but their schtick can get pretty repetitive, such as Dazzle and Rad's inability to take any situation remotely seriously, and Chrysalis being the only straight man. Pizzaz is really the only one that has any variety to her character (which is part of the reason why she's the best, in my opinion).

If they had taken more of an Archer approach, with a mostly-reprehensible cast that kinda redeems themselves in their comedy, rather than being reprehensible because of their comedy, as well as being capable of taking itself more seriously every now-and-then, I think Moonbeam City would have more lasting power.
>>
What are they gonna replace it with? Reruns of Tosh or Drunk History?
>>
>>77867695

Could they at least let it end normally before they kill it silently?

I don't wanna wait till 1AM on a completely different day!

Yeah fuck you CC. Your "news" shows are shit (especially after Stewart left), Tosh is one note, and drunk history has lost its allure.
>>
>>77869469
Second season of Another Period when? That shit was hilarious.
>>
Moonbeam's shitty early episodes cemented its death.
>>
>>77868192
But Rad yearns for acceptance and praise which makes him my favorite, my biggest complaint about the show is Dazzle comes off as flat, there's nothing really going for him which drags the show. But it's been getting better so I hope they don't can it too soon.
>>
>>77870465
I'll be fucking pissed if this show gets canned quicker than fucking Brickle berry.
>>
>>77867695
Why is it on at 1am? is CC mad that people aren't staying for the Daily Show after the finished watching Moonbeam City?
>>
I'm annoyed they even have the southpark encore pushed to 12:30 to make room for chris jizzhairs meme fest circa 2007

>you just wont the internet
they are even out of touch with the people they are pandering to
>>
Aw, fuck.

Saw it coming, but still. Fuck.
>>
>>77868028
...and it's already cancelled in our eyes.
>>
The said the next two episodes will be at 1 because of more nudity.
>>
>>77870850
That's the real crime here. Moonbeam City didn't quite strike a chord with me, but it's certainly better than Brickleberry.
>>
From the creator on the subreddit:
" Hey Moonbeam reddit crew-
I see you've noticed this dumb stupid news. It's really irritating, but we're not dead in the water. We're still gonna be on DVR and on demand and Amazon and iTunes and Google Play and Hulu- you know, all the places where people watch shows anyway!
The best thing anybody can do now is Tweet or post about how much you love the show (and tonight's episode, which is really wonderfully insane). But don't post all angry at Comedy Central- this show wouldn't exist without them, and this decision was made by weird dark-room suits, not by the cool people at Comedy Central. Make sense??"

In short, still watch it on DVR or whatever, and Viacom forced it, not CC.
>>
>>77876388
Source?
>>
>>77877049
Brickleberry probably costed like 12 dollars an episode to produce.

Titmouse is a real animation studio who can actually make good cartoons.
>>
>>77867695
Should have shown pazzaz's boobs and feet. She may not be as funny as the rest but at least she is sexy.
>>
>>77867695

The animation and art style is amazing. The comedic story telling however is horrendously terrible.

This is why it's getting cancled.
>>
Well, it'll live on as a cult hit, at least.

Years from now we can look back and say "Aw man, that show was great. Shame it was so short."
>>
Are the really canceling Moonbeam City? I can't believe it!

Sure on the surface, the characters may be one dimensional, and predictable, but there was room for growth and improvement.

Tis a sad, sad day, indeed.
>>
>>77867695

Man i was late to the party and just watched episode 5 and now i read this, sad times indeed.

I lost all respect i had for Pizzas after the Copcon episode. She's attracted to Dazzle, which is way she gives him all the cases and never punish him when he fucks them up.

I kind of got the feeling this would be a season 1er, but I want to still have hope.

Anyone gonna watch it tonight to help with the ratings?
>>
>brickleberry gets 3 seasons despite being an uninspired family guy ripoff by tosh
>moon beam city cancelled after one season, even though it's a fairly decent wannabe archer.

>>
>>77867695
The ratings were really bad. I tried to find them, but tv by the numbers only lists the top 100 cable shows in a night. Often Moonbeam City wasn't even in the top 100.
>>
>>77880512
But he does eventually solve them. His track record is solid.
>>
>>77880640

I still lost respect for her. I thought she was a hard boss that took her work seriously, but she's just a woman in love that's constantly excusing her man.
>>
>>77880688

She is hard though, hard for the dazzman.
>>
>>77880688
My view is that Moonbeam City is just heavily infested with crime and the murder rate is ridiculously high. Because of that no cops get fired no matter how incompetent they are, because too many cops get KIA they need everyone who is brave enough for the job.

Hell look at Rad, who is at least equally useless as Dazzle and eats poop but he's still on the force.

Also Pizazz seems like the type of person who just works and never has time for relationships, so she just gets all her yearly sexual needs out at cop con.
>>
>replacing Moonbeam is a rerun of the episode that just aired of South Park
that's fucking gay. MAJOR screwing from Viacom.
also damn, CC's schedule is a lot different now. Chappelle's on the schedule again and they dont rerun the late night news shows in the afternoon anymore. also SNL and MTV2 stuff.
>>
>>77881165

SNL?

When? What years?
>>
>>77881157

The Copcon episode made clear it that she has feelings for Dazzle.
Also, she almost never gives a case to rad. Rad just follows Dazzle around to fuck up with his cases by trying to steal his thunder.
>>
>>77881204
I think a month or two ago. and probably modern episodes like VH1, while VH1 Classic airs the older ones.
also some BET comedy by Kevin Hart airs on CC now, too. Viacom has been doing a lot of cross-channel shit recently.
>>
>>77881215
Didn't she make Chrysalis in charge once or twice?

Ah anyway it's supposed to be a comedy first and foremost.
>>
>>77881382

Only once, i think. It was when Dazzle didn't want to do security for that fancy party where he broke in and met her sister. She was screaming at him and he made a joke about Copcon, the only time she doesn't seem to be on period, for now obvious reason, which made her slap his face and remind her of how she was treated by her sister. In horror of what she had just done to Dazzle she gave the security gig to Chrysalis.

This. The only ratings we have are for episodes 1, 2, and 4 which got 0.61 million, 0.52 million, and 0.53 million respectively.

By comparison, the South Park episodes that aired those same weeks got 1.76 million, 1.49 million, and 1.37 million. Yes, comparing ratings to south park isn't fair, but you do not lose 65% of the viewership and walk away unpunished.

That guy is a fucking hack.
His delivery is off-note and far too winking.
He can't do absurdism and he's a boring straight man.
His bits are all trash; their punchlines are juvenile, immediately apparent, and the whole thing drags far too long.
His roundtable segments are always black-pandering circlejerks with a hint of tokenism so that everyone can talk over each other for an entire third of the show.
Every episode is race-whining regurgitation of the Daily Show. Fuck, even today's episode had Spike Lee, who showed up just the other day on Daily Show.
Tries far too hard to open a dialogue and be a political news show rather than offering, y'know, comedy on the fucking channel called Comedy Central.

>>
>>77894718
Same here, any screencaps?
>>
>>77894678
No one can be Stephen Colbert, so that's not really a fair comparison to make in the first place.

I think the hate is more because Wilmore is actually talking about issues involving black people (because let's be honest here, he has every reason to, especially with recent events), and that's pushing all of 4chan's collective buttons to maximum and triggering them worse than a Tumblr SJW.

Sometimes the segments fall flat, yeah, but he's discussing the issues that no one other than Trevor Noah is bringing up. Keep in the mind the show is still young, so it'll definitely be growing in time. Especially as long as idiots like Donald Trump stay in the spotlight.
>>

Holy shit nigger die please, all that fucking loser does is cry about fake issues and jerks himself off in an attempt to be funny. That show is fucking garbage and you know it.

I genuinely think he's just not funny regardless of Colbert comparisons. If Colbert wasn't there he'd still be a bad comedian. I don't care if you're the only one taking on black issues and honestly not saying anything I haven't heard on here already. He's not doing it in a funny way to me and it's been a year but I checked out half a year ago what triggered me was more the Fat Acceptance Activist and the closest thing to a dissenting opinion they brought in was the comedian who threw in a few fat jokes.
>>
>>77894927
To be fair that's something all these "News" Comedians are guilty of, a lot of Talk Show hosts really.
>>
>>77894630
I don't mind
>Black People
I don't even mind shows that are black-culture shows, like Chocolate News and Chappelle's Show. If anything, Chappelle's Show is what I feel is the perfect iteration of a 'Black People' comedy show. It makes light of controversial topics but never sacrifices its humor in order to create a dialogue.

Wilmore is constantly trying to get to the heart of the matter. The jokes all fall flat for me and feel secondary to whatever current event Wilmore is trying to chase.

The blackness of the people is arbitrary to me; Wilmore doesn't make the racial issues into comedy, though. He simply expresses the racial issues, often complaining about them.

The show falls flat for more than just the fact that he's not Colbert. The show does not have strong rapport with the Daily Show and often hits the same notes and even uses the same clips but with less humorous and more racially-charged accompanying material. I've already watched the Daily Show. I want something different. If anything, I want some degree of brevity after the (usually) straight-faced comedy and fairly serious interviews provided by the daily show. Something light to end the night on would be great. Instead, I get Unfunny Wilmore whining about race in a poorly put together show.

So, yes, I hate it for two very intrinsic qualities it has (a weak comic lead and poor use of 'racial issues' as a platform for delivering comedy), but it also suffers from poor structure. The lead-in to news segments being commented on is fine albeit tired given that's exactly the Daily Show's schtick. As I mentioned before, there's often one meandering bit that takes up the middle segment of the show and is often poorly written. I have yet to laugh at any of the bit sketches on Nightly Show--they typically suffer from Larry playing a very unfunny straightman while 'directing' the sketch and, as I said before, are usually a one-note affair that drags its feet. Also; fuck the roundtable segment.

>>
>>77894927
Like I said, he's far too winking. I have a lot of issues with his delivery, but that's a large part of it. He doesn't just tell the joke and roll with it, and the show drags for it.

>>
>>77894847
I feel like anyone would have a hard time filling the gap that Colbert left. That's not really my issue. I'd be fine with things if Wilmore was marginally funny, but he's not.

Really, that's one of the things that bothers me; the show tries to get away with being humorous, but it is never funny. I feel that there's a distinction there. The issue I have is that even with humorous shows, where the goal is for a 'mood' rather than getting an audience laughing, there's still a deal of brevity and the capacity for the show to even joke at its own expense. The Nightly Show is just a dry commentary on race. It doesn't turn on the humor for me and it certainly doesn't make me laugh. When it does attempt to, it stalls and seems far too much like it's trying to hard.

I agree that there are tons of racial issues going on right now (and they are well covered digitally and otherwise, so it isn't as if Larry is the only guy talking about them) and that there's some 4chan triggering stuff there. That's not what bothers me at all. What bothers me is that the show is meant to be a comedy show but it's clear that Larry cares more about getting to the heart of the issue and exposing/exploring these racially charged situations rather than telling a fucking joke. Dude wants a late night/early morning talk-show with rappers and black celebs. He doesn't want the show to be funny beyond a few cracks here and there. That's why it's shit to me. It fails completely as a comedy show.

As a talk show about racial politics, it's still extremely biased and meandering, but at least it accomplishes the ground-floor for the genre.

It was a facebook post. Something about the robot sex scene being too graphic.

Sounds like a cop-out honestly. They just didn't want to admit that the CC execs think it's crap. Strangely enough, Scott Gairdner replied to the post advising fans to retweet and share to help convince the execs not to can the show.

Nothing official yet, but the time change to hour where nobody is watching TV doesn't bode well.
>>
>>77894319
I dunno, it seems like the Daily Show got way preachier and less funny around Jon's last year there. Jessica Williams being more prominent didn't help much either.
Larry Wilmore just isn't a good host. He's not funny in his delivery, and his show is preachier than The Daily Show ever was. The Colbert Report was way funnier and had a way better gimmick than "black guy and panel complain about race relations in America". I will say that while I still think his delivery is bad, it was much worse in the very beginning. Maybe his show will pick up. And it couldn't be half as bad as Why with Hannibal Buress, that show was horrible.
>>
>>77894930
>I checked out half a year ago

Eh, he's gotten better and you can tell he's gotten used to being in the seat.

You are right though and you haven't missed much. The show is HARD left and they don't even try to hide it. Lots of pandering and discussions are mostly one-sided with a celebrity there to promote their book/show/album bringing very little to the conversation. Rarely, do they have a commentator that disagrees with the rest of the group without trying to turn it into a lame joke.

It's riding on a artistic style trend, something that's more of a one-hit wonder. And it's main appeal is the artistic style of someone's EYES, the rest is generic Flash-tier animated recycled content.

What sucks is that the show just needed time to get it's footing, which I think it's found now. CC doesn't have a good track record of keeping shows going outside of SouthPark.

Pazzaz crying over dazzle

>>

Yes.

Watch the Cop Con episode and the one with her Sisters.

Pizazz and Dazzle have always desired eachother, they just keep it in check until Cop Con which turns in to a giant fuckfest for the two where they release all the sexual tension they build up over the year. However Pizazz is revealed to actually love him and not just lust for him.

>Holy shit nigger die please, all that fucking loser does is cry about fake issues and jerks himself off in an attempt to be funny. That show is fucking garbage and you know it.

I think the round table segments live or die by how involved the guest is, but the rest of the talk show is pretty spot on.
>>
>>77915595
man she is the most unffuny woman ever
>>
At first, I thought Dazzle was just seducing SILCA so he could escape. Turns out the guy was seriously into the prison in more ways that one. Good on him, I guess. Their reunion at the end was nice.
>>
>>77915769
The other parts are even worse, atleast the panelists don't have that sad air of failing comedy around them since most of them are just there to be serious.
>>
>>77916133
One thing a like about Dazzle is he seems to take actual relationships pretty seriously, and stays committed to them.
Too bad there won't be another season for his and Pizzaz's relationship to evolve
>>
>>77894519

The problem of the show is Wilmore is just boring by himself. He's too much of a straight man, and doesn't have anyone to play off of his straight man style.

Also "Everything ever forever is racism" is played out as fuck in this show.

>>77895284

Yeah I love that about him. There always seems to be a method to his madness. It's not just a "gimmick" for him if that makes any sense. When he gets involved into something for that episode, he really throws himself into it and that is refreshing to see in a character, especially one who goes through episode to episode in comedic situations.

This series has so much potential but it feels like it's kind of squandered since they really don't do much with the setting or characters. Like it tries to hard to be 80s Glam Archer without the actual plot Archer has.

But I'd hate for them to cancel this series. It is one of the best things they've aired in years.

When? Because I didn't see anything in those two episodes that showed or indicated that. Lust (which you mentioned), yes. However, I do not remember seeing anything that indicated that her attraction to Dazzle was anything beyond a physical and sexual level. Maybe I missed something?

Way back in episode one, when Rad seemed like a competent buffoon instead of a complete human trainwreck, I thought him and Pizzaz were going to be the antagonistic-duo to counterbalance Crysalis and Dazzle's one.

I'm a bit sad my prediction didn't come true.

You don't understand how TV works. CC ordered 10 episodes. That doesn't make it a "10 episode show." This is how TV happens. Everyone involved in the production of the show hoped the show would do well enough for CC to order more episodes so that they could continue to be employed. None of the writers, artists, or actors planned on only doing 10 episodes.
