For me Naruto got fucking retarded after Pain died, Part 1 is mostly good shonen shit, not terribly original but it has a message and sticks to it, and brings its characters through an arc. Part 2 is basically more of the same until Pain dies then Naruto's character arc is basically finished and suddenly everyone can move at light speed and fire mountain destroying laser beams. In the Pain fight Naruto still punches people, he doesn't turn into a giant holographic fox with a permanent smirk and fires edge lasers at Tree Gods.
