The difference between the showy acts Hercules did which didn't make him a "true hero" and saving Meg which did wasn't purely in the heart. Yes, his motivations being different in that the other acts were self serving and saving Meg was just because he wanted to help her did matter. And yes that is a matter of heart. Is Robert Venditti's run on Green Lantern any good? I've liked the stuff he's written for Valiant, so I was thinking about checking it out.
The idea of light being a limited resource is just so bad. And for that reason the first arc or two are really hard to get through. It does get better. Its mildly entertaining. His ship currently is essentially glados from portal and she's the highlight of every issue.
