imo, the TOS cast is hotter and has more chemistry but to each their own.

TOS is much better, in my opinion. Meine liebe. The actors look and act so much more like people, which is a main theme of the show. The movies are just "look at these pretty actors move and talk!"

Yeah, Star Trek benefits a lot from being a show rather than just movies.
Into the Darkness fell flat for me because it tried to do what 3 seasons + The Wrath of Khan did for TOS in the span of two hours.

Same. I only catch the new movies because friends want to see them and I like having the context for all of the new Kirk/Spock fanfics.
IMO Star Trek simply does not lend itself to being condensed into movies without the presence of a series to develop its cast. The "tell don't show" nature of the movies gets old fast.
Is next gen okay too?
