Apparently from what I've heard NGE BDs came with a commentary track for EoTV made by Anno and Higuchi where they gave an official explanation of why Kaworu wasn't present in some scenes. Obviously we don't have them yet (and who knows when they'll be released out of Japan) so... can someone confirm if is that true? if it is, is there any way to hear this? a translation somewhere with a sauce? something? I've always had my opinion/ideas, but it'd the best to hear the official version.

There are doujinshi archived in other places, too, though. spluuuuurt and lightsrefrain on tumblr, for example. Unfortunately, lightsrefrain is only accessible via dashboard, now, and read mores don't seem to work in dashboard view, so it looks like there's no getting at those doujins now. Probably they just were told that it wouldn't come out for 2016, but they know they would have to work on it for a while, so they just added 1+ year there just in case.
