Munchy Boxes don't actually have many calories. At leats they are easy to fit into a Scottish diet, which generally is very healthy and low calories. I'd almost argue we NEED them because we consume so few calories otherwise.

Looking it up, they are both around 3000cals for a large version. Having eaten both, it is easier to make a dent in a large pizza, eating half of one is not that crazy. Starch on starch isn't part of the food groups things in the US. No piecrust pies filled with potato fillings, served alongside bread, for instance. I think there's a muslim angle to it, also. The chip shop is run by people who just do whatever takeout fast food is desired, from pizza to sandwiches with fries, lots of deep frying, so whatever else works for the fryer is throw in too. No meal making. These are specialty shops, just the corner takeout.
