What was the worst restaurant on this show?
I'm glad this thread is back! The last one reignited my interest in the show. I recently watched the Mangia Mangia episode. It was pretty tame as far as this show is concerned, but then... Pic related admitted to being a meth addict. I was certain for the first 3/4ths of the episode that he was just smoking weed.
He also reminded me of the handful of ugly, glasses wearing faggots I went to highschool with that were douchebags and believed they were tough shit.

Posted in the last thread, I met the lady from Blackberrys and she thought she was hot shit. Mind you this was about a year or two after that shit closed down. She was with one of the old chefs and she was super nice. We talked about roasting a pig and cooking in general. She also laughed when I was busting her balls about the owner. I did not find out what happened to grandma but I am pretty sure I rang her up once or twice when I was working at a supermarket. If it was the same lady she was also super nice and always put a smile on my face. I also live by the Spanish Pavilion but they are doing good last I heard.

I don't remember the name of the restaurant but the dude had like 3 sons and 4 daughters working 24/7 at his restaurant to cut costs, but all the children were miserable af. AFAIK Amy and her husband also had a laundry/cleaning thing that got in trouble with the policy of for laundering money and not paying the workers. By far the worst, she shouldn't even have got a spot on the show,since it's clear from the get go that they're not interested in improving or listening to Gordon.
Best was the second or third episode of the UK version, the alcoholic guy seems to be actually good, as long as he manages to free himself from the alcoholism
Do people say this show is scripted as in they feed them lines? I had the impression that they seek out the craziest, on the edge of insanity people, have Gordon antognize them, and the drama in the show practically writes itself.
Worst one I ever saw was from a short lived show he did called Great British Nightmares that is almost identical to Kitchen Nightmares UK.
The place is called the Dovecot Restaurant and the guy was serving duck with orange sauce made out of orange squash, and vacuum packed lamb shanks that didn't need refridgerating and had a shelf life measured in years.

Water in the pan is a sign that the heat is too low, or that there is too much food in the pan. You don't want to boil the food it its own juices. You want to fry it.

Correct. Leave the lid off for things like this.

Fat doesn't jump out of the pan on its own. It only splatters if you get moisture into it. Therefore, make sure that your food is DRY before you put it into the pan. Wipe off any marinade you used. Pat meats and veggies dry with a towel or something before you put it in the pan. Do that and you'll never have to worry about splatter.

The way to deal with oil jumping out of the pan is to lay things in the pan away from you so the oil doesn't splash on you, and then clean your fucking kitchen when you're done cooking.

He has a different kind of talk too. While Ramsay is more about finding creative ways to call your mother a whore, Etchebest seems more like the kind to shouldertackle the lazy untalented hack out of you. It's a different style, that the network tried to make look similar. The end result is less over the top.
That's just talking about Etchebest as a show host however. As a chef, I have absolutely nothing against him, and would love to eat at his restaurant.
