how does /ck/ feel about canned fish (nOT including garbage like tuna)? i like herring and sardines, and the occasional canned salmon, but i currently only eat the more expensive stuff like king oscar's. are there any cheaper brands that aren't complete garbage? i had some $1 can sardines once that had really big bones and tough filets and to be frank they turned me off of cheaper fish. i haven't tried alternate packings other than fresh water (usually get olive oil), wondering how sauces like mustard/tomato/hot sauce turn out.

Varies greatly by brand. Some of it is garbage, some of it is god-tier. (And the stuff I'm describing as god tier has a price to match)

My grandpa would always make sardines on crackers as a snack. He said it would "get me ready for pussy."

Mackerel is good. God-like salmon is also god-like, but I don't really have access to those really really good canned salmon in my local supermarket, so unless I want to order online or something I am out of luck.

I am not picky about my food, so I can endure the cheaper kind of fish, so I am afraid I am not a good guideline when it comes down to tolerable cheap food.

Your grandpa seems like a good man.

Here in france we have whole aisles dedicated to it.

It's delicious with fresh bread and butter, in salads, on some crackers, blinis.

Try them out. Mustard ones with cubed potatoes, hard boiled egg, red onions and olives with chives and black pepper is a great tasting, filling and healthy salad.

No idea about your brands tho, sry.

The ones you can bulk buy at Costco are great and like 10$ for 6 or 7 of them I think? I don't remember

I eat primarily the garbage ones as a cheap protein source. Mustard and tomato sauce ones tend to taste... Processed i guess. Pretty bad. The jalepeno and some hot sauce ones work out well however. Good with lemon in rice or avocado on toast.
