the distinction between a hamburger and a sandwich is that sandwiches are usually mostly cold. where as burgers are generally hot.
so chicken sandwiches as they're known in the US are actually chicken burgers like they're known everywhere else.
there are also things like hotdogs and cheesesteaks that blur the line but I think its best to call them by their own names?
like, here in Australia we have hot and soft long rolls with hot roast chicken meat, stuffing and mayonnaise on them called chicken rolls.

In America, sandwich is typically used only for coldcuts in between slices of bread. Hamburgers are made with a bun and cooked ground beef making it not a sandwich for most but related.
