Is an hamburger an sandwich?

you'd have to be a pretty huge pedant to think otherwise

Well this is a picture of hamburgers, and they are not sandwiches. But if you were to put them in a bun they would be.
>>
>>7800547

It's a filling between two pieces of bread, so yes, it's a subset of sandwiches. Sort of like how a square is a type of a rectangle.
>>
>>7800547
That depends, is 'go 'za really pizza?

Nice 'go 'ga

In what way?

>not understand the /sp/ reference
>>
>>7800547
If you weren't a lazy little cunt and knew how to conduct a little research you would know that the original sandwich was incredibly close to a modern day hamburger.
>>
>>7800624
A rectangle is a four-sided flat shape where every angle is a right angle (90°).

Squares are just different in that all sides are of equal length.

I disagree

No. The same way animes are not cartoons.

You're fundamentally, and mathematically incorrect. You have no room to disagree.

you lads need to make a trek or two over to /sp/
>>
the distinction between a hamburger and a sandwich is that sandwiches are usually mostly cold. where as burgers are generally hot.
so chicken sandwiches as they're known in the US are actually chicken burgers like they're known everywhere else.

there are also things like hotdogs and cheesesteaks that blur the line but I think its best to call them by their own names?
like, here in Australia we have hot and soft long rolls with hot roast chicken meat, stuffing and mayonnaise on them called chicken rolls.

idk, they're all part of the sandwich family.
>>
>>7803198
who /coldhamburgers/ here
>>
>>7800630
>visiting /sp/
>>

Someone shit in your ' '
>>
In America, sandwich is typically used only for coldcuts in between slices of bread. Hamburgers are made with a bun and cooked ground beef making it not a sandwich for most but related.
>>
>>7800547
If they are on a bun, yes.

If they are on a plate with gravy and mashed potatoes or rice, no.
>>
>>7804276
or a spread like grape jelly or peanut butter instead of coldcuts. Point being a sandwich in America is not a hot meal in most minds but rather a cold or room temp. one.
>>
Fastfood calls it a sandwich but no normal person calls it a sandwich.
>>
>>7800553
Worst 'go 'za I've ever seen
>>
>>7804276
In my experience, Americans are the only ones calling hamburgers sandwiches.
>>
>>7804298
Are your experiences with Americans limited to /ck/, movies/tv series, and advertising?
>>
>>7804298

It's certainly not normal Amerispeak to call one a sandwich.

But when forced to define it (as opposed to everyday conversation), it clearly must be a type of sandwich because it is filling between two pieces of bread.
>>
it's only a sandwich if it's made with sliced bread, hamburgers are no sandwiches
>>
>>7804359
Some people make burgers with sliced bread.
>>
>>7803164
So you deny basic geometry and all the scientific advance that we have thanks to a mathematical view of the world?
>>
>>7804413
If a square is a rectangle then we wouldn't need to call it a square but could just call it a rectangle.
>>
>>7804371
well in that case they actually make sandwiches
>>
>>7804435
But they how do you signify to someone that you'd like a rectangle with equal sized sides?
The definition of square was introduced both due to this need, and the fact that squares specifically are used a lot in mathematics and proofs.
You're even worse than those faggots still screaming that Pluto is a planet ten years later.
>>
>>7802973
But anime is cartoons.
>>
>>7804359
so a subway foot long is not a sandwich?
>>
>>7804359
A bun is sliced, therefore is sliced bread.
>>
>>7800561
>>7800591
>>7804297
Is this supposed to be funny?
>>
Hell no
>>
>>7804828
not if it's cut in halves. only if you chopped the bread into many slices. subway subs are no real sandwiches. I'd call them baguettes.
>>7804880
it's only a sandwich if you cut slices from a loaf. minimum number of slices is two slices plus two butts. cutting a roll or a bun into halves makes it a folded canapé.
>>
>>7804435
>If a crow is a bird then we wouldn't need to call it a crow but could just call it a bird
>>
>>7804980
but archaeopteryxs are no birds.
>>
>>7804580
>But they how do you signify to someone that you'd like a rectangle with equal sized sides?
>Please sir I'd like a rectangle with congruent sides.
No one has ever asked this in the history of ever.

is soup in a breadbowl a sandwich?

A burger is ground up shit shaped into a patty.
