>Exposure, plain and simple. Scientists tell us that aversions fade away when we eat moderate doses of the hated foods at moderate intervals, especially if the food is complex and new to us. (Don't try this with allergies, but don't cheat either: few of us have genuine food allergies.) Exposure works by overcoming our innate neophobia, the omnivore's fear of new foods that balances the biological urge to explore for them. Did you know that babies who are breast-fed will later have less trouble with novel foods than those who are given formula? The variety of flavors that make their way into breast milk from the mother's diet prepares the infant for the culinary surprises that lie ahead. Most parents give up trying novel foods on their weanlings after two or three attempts and then complain to the pediatrician; this may be the most common cause of fussy eaters and finicky adults--of omnivores manqués. Most babies will accept nearly anything after eight or ten tries.

You are supposed to use the yolk as a dip for the toast. I bet you spoon the yolk straight into your neckbeard mouth while spilling onto your wobbling chins.

Well that's just blatantly untrue. I'd wager there are more foods that people will say taste better "undercooked", whatever that means.

like pasta al dente

cook your fucking pasta
>>
>>7721313
Most people just want the white cooked because otherwise it has a bad texture.

When yolk is fully cooked for an unscrambled egg, it gets a very strong taste and powdery texture that isn't pleasant.

I like well-done steak but I don't care about people who like theirs less cooked (even though they waste their time complaining about people who like it well-done), it's just preference.

steak, lamb, burgers, etc.
>news flash: people cook food for a reason, heat applied makes things taste better
sushi, sashimi, tartare; i don't think people eat grilled grapes and fried oranges

there's this thing between your ears that you should use before you post.

properly made sunny side up eggs are god tier. you're probably eating them with the whites still raw.

Onions.
>>
>>7721367
I don't understand how you can just say "onions taste bad".

They're pretty versatile. Thin sliced onion tastes different than huge chunks on a salad or sandwich. Simmering onion with beans or meat for a stew makes them mild and a bit sweeter. Caramelized onions are sweet and delicious.

Onions prepared improperly taste bad, but don't blame the poor innocent onion.

>The more I contemplated food phobias, the more I became convinced that people who habitually avoid certifiably delicious foods are at least as troubled as people who avoid sex, or take no pleasure from it, except that the latter will probably seek psychiatric help, while food phobics rationalize their problem in the name of genetic inheritance, allergy, vegetarianism, matters of taste, nutrition, food safety, obesity, or a sensitive nature.

>Onions prepared improperly taste bad, but don't blame the poor innocent onion.

Onions taste bad when not prepared at all (e.g. FUCKING RAW). They taste wonderful when properly cooked, either sweated or caramelized or fried.

>>7721351
>properly made sunny side up eggs are god tier. you're probably eating them with the whites still raw.

This is like the onions. Eggs taste fucking awful when they're not properly prepared (e.g. FUCKING RAW). Uncooked egg whites might as well be semen mixed with uncooked flour.

>You are supposed to use the yolk as a dip for the toast.
This.
Although I prefer to flip the eggs over and fry the top for a few seconds to make sure the white's cooked properly. It loses the attractive yellow shine of the yolk as it sits on the plate, but it's still liquid under the whitish covering it gets.

It seems to be a common method around here. When they started frying eggs in the canteen at work, they went from semi-undercooked to solid all the way through to just the way I like them over the course of a few weeks.

I'm not a picky eater, there really isn't anything I won't eat. There's just something ironic about an overweight man saying those things. It's like an alcoholic saying people who don't drink as much as them are just uptight.

sunny side up are shit and either have raw egg white or burned egg white. People only make them because over easy is harder.

what if you count calories and don't want to triple the calories in each egg?
>>
>>7723239

You don't add more, you use the liquid already in the pan
>>
>>7723121

>over easy is harder

It's really not. Over easy is probably the easiest/fasted way to cook eggs without burning them or worrying about uncooked whites.
>>
>>7723234

Unless you're cooking at least 3-4 eggs, you shouldn't have enough fat in the pan to be able to spoon it over...
>>

Put a lid on your pan.

You're wrong. All water has a taste, even that nasty fucking distilled stuff. Usually it tastes kind of chalky or bitter, which is why many people prefer soda water and mineral water, because they may have a slightly higher acid profile so it offsets that bitter chalkiness. Quit smoking, and your sense of taste will improve.
